Our Environmental services are broad reaching and integrated with our multi-disciplinary teams. Through environmental planning and management, we work towards net positive impacts of our clients\xe2\x80\x99 projects, increasingly with a focus on sustainability and making a difference on climate. Through environmental engineering, geoscience, and ecology we delve into and solve problems over wide ranging scales and with a broad geographic coverage.
We have identified the need for an individual to lead the continued development of a buildings environmental practice. The role will build on the ad-hoc and opportunistic practice development, and purposefully grow the practice to the size and complexity that is commensurate with our position within the buildings and infrastructure market in North America.
Responsibilities:
Provide technical and strategic leadership in the development of a buildings environmental practice, with a focus on hazardous and designated substances, indoor air quality, and occupational hygiene, industrial hygiene, and/or occupational health and safety.
Leading the design and delivery of buildings environmental assessments and abatements of all scales.
Peer review of all technical work, including directing report writing, and preparation of specifications and estimates
Mentorship and coaching of staff
Establishing a reputation for high level buildings-environmental expertise and specialized services, internally (to other MH Business Units) and externally to existing and new clients.
Growing buildings-environmental market share in strategic markets. Leveraging of existing client relationships and establishing and fostering new client relationships is integral to this task.
Sharing your industry recognized technical expertise with the rest of MH through Lunch and Learns, one-on-one coaching and participation in cross Business Unit technical forums
Active participation in conferences including delivering presentations
Publishing articles within industry recognized publications
Participation in recruiting activities
Qualifications:
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Science or Engineering (Master\'s Degree or higher would be considered an asset)
Certified Industrial Hygienist, Registered Occupational Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, or Canadian Registered Safety Professional
Professional Engineer may be considered as an alternative qualification
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in buildings-environmental practice
Proven project management track record of managing project teams, quality, budget, and schedule
Health & Safety Certification pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER 40 Hour) an asset
Consulting experience working with various levels of government and the private sector
Direct experience with the environmental and occupational health and safety regulatory environment, ideally in multiple jurisdictions across North America
Proven track record of success in delivering viable cost-effective solutions to buildings-environmental related projects
Experience in planning, design, costing and management of buildings-environmental projects
Strong interest in growing and developing the company\'s buildings-environmental practice through the coaching / technical mentoring of staff
Ability to work well independently and in a strong team environment
Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and access to a vehicle
