Job Summary





As part of the OneSky Harm Reduction Program (HRM), and 100 More Homes Lived (100 HM)/Living Experience Table (LLET), the Peer Support Worker 2 plays a key role in fostering safe, welcoming, inclusive, supportive and friendly environments for participants, People Who Use Drugs (PWUD), People With Lived and Living Experience (PWLLE) and homelessness. Working collaboratively with OneSky, LLET and community partners, the Peer Support Worker engages participants through the Lived Experience Circle meetings and projects, while also providing education about harm reduction, homelessness, and overdose prevention and response. In addition, they facilitate outreach and build meaningful connections to contribute to leadership, advocacy, and engagement efforts that promote positive outcomes within the community.

Key Responsibilities





Meeting Facilitation & Community Engagement


Facilitate monthly OneSky and LLET meetings by welcoming participants, guiding discussions, and tracking emerging themes. Coordinate meeting reminders and outreach (e.g., text messages to members the day before). Support the onboarding of new members and promote a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space. Provide check-in opportunities for members who are unable to attend the regular monthly meeting. Attend key meetings such as the 100 HM Steering Committee, OneSky Community meetings, Community Action Table, and other relevant community tables. Maintain regular check-ins with supervisors to ensure access to necessary support and resources.




Peer Leadership & Member Engagement


Identify opportunities for OneSky and LLET members to contribute to partner projects or broader systems-level work (e.g., service design, advisory roles). Support members in preparing and delivering feedback, personal stories, or recommendations. Track member interests, needs, and development goals to encourage long-term engagement. Represent OneSky and LLET in external engagements or support and prepare others to do so. Co-create presentations or impact stories that reflect the collective voice of OneSky and LLET.




Community Clean-Up Initiative


Confirm event locations with OneSky and LLET and contribute peer-led input to planning. Lead on-site logistics, including setup, orientation, and participant support during monthly clean-ups. Assist with honorarium distribution and act as peer liaison during events.




Harm Reduction & Direct Support


Collaborate with team members to strengthen harm reduction services, overdose response efforts, and support for individuals experiencing homelessness. Provides direct support and shares information about local health and social services. Participate in public awareness events and special workshops.




Professionalism, Safety, Confidentiality & Advocacy


Maintain professionalism and act as positive community ambassadors through respectful communication, active listening, appropriate dress, and timely updates on availability. Follow safety procedures in all work settings and adhere to personal responsibilities within safety plans. Attend all relevant meetings as a representative of OneSky and LLET, including 100 HM Steering Committee and any other associated community tables identified by members and/or your supervisor. Completes and maintains accurate records and documentation. Represent external requests for input from PWLLE, homelessness, and PWUD in collaboration with the coordinator. Uphold confidentiality and foster trust-based relationships with participants and peers by creating a respectful environment that values their choices and abilities.



Qualifications




Strong knowledge of applied harm reduction practices, particularly as they relate to PWUD, homelessness, and PWLLE. Personal or Lived Experience in drug use and/or homelessness is an asset. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Capacity to maintain supportive, respectful and cooperative relationships with other members of the Lived Experience Circle, while being open to diverse perspectives. Knowledge of local social and health services available to PWUD, homelessness, and PWLLE. A willingness to travel and work in various locations across Penticton, based on identified service needs.

Criminal record check Personal and professional references Signing of a confidentiality agreement Adherence to OneSky policies and procedures Certified in First Aid Valid driver's license (may be required for Peer Support Workers authorized to provide one-to-one peer support)
