What You Will Do...
As a Harm Reduction Outreach Worker, you will enhance the quality of life for individuals and diverse communities living with, at-risk for or affected by the challenges associated with HIV/AIDS and HCV.
Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide harm reduction and HIV/HCV education and distribute harm reduction material to individuals who use substances to support positive health outcomes in local communities, including Oxford/Elgin Counties and London.
You will address the needs of individuals who experience barriers to accessing care and who have addiction and/or social issues to enable better access to the care continuum for community members.
What You Will Bring...
A working knowledge of harm reduction principles, substances use, addictions, sexual health, and sex work with an understanding of the societal stigma imposed on the drug using population and its related impacts.
A strong ability to build rapport with participants and engage with and relate to culturally, linguistically, ethnically, spiritually, racially, and geographically diverse communities.
A strong knowledge of community resources and social service agencies in London with the ability to identify and understand intersectional factors that impact the health and wellbeing of diverse communities of people.
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills and strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to deliver effective conflict resolution and crisis intervention techniques.
A valid G driver's license and the ability to drive for extended periods of time while working throughout our catchment area.
An ability to walk for extended periods of time and lift/carry up up to 30 lbs for short distances.
First Aid & CPR, BLS, CPI training considered an asset.
A satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
A driver's abstract will be required.
