Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityReporting to the Manager-Health Protection SSP, the Consultant, Harm Reduction, provides advanced knowledge, leadership and coordination for work across Nova Scotia in the area of harm reduction.The Consultant provides oversight to contracted community-based organization in the provision of harm reduction services including: needle distribution and disposal, overdose prevention, and other mitigations of harms associated with substance use. The Consultant provides an expert level of advice and direction to strengthen the understanding and application of harm and stigma reduction principals among the NSH workforce. The position works with others to strengthen and build a culture of practice that encompasses the principles of harm reduction and evaluates the degree to which our efforts are achieving our intended goals.The Consultant strengthens and expands harm reduction programs and services through the management of existing contracts, development of new partnerships, and the developments of business cases and grant applications. The Consultant oversees and supports a community of practice among harm reduction stakeholders internal and external to the organization, which includes first voice representation from people who use substances. The Consultant provides training, learning opportunities, practice forums and other venues to build the understanding and application of harm reduction principles and stigma reduction efforts. The Consultant collaborates with system and external partners, identifies and monitors key indicators, and supports knowledge exchange across the health system and other sectors. The Consultant achieves these goals through a leadership role in providing guidance and coordination of methods and tools, continually recommending quality initiatives and practice changes including through the development of organizational policies and position statements in collaboration with other departments withing NSH.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:
