About the role

• Create mechanical packaging solutions using industry standard tools to design, analyze and document electronic assemblies
• Ability to analyze/interpret schematic drawings, mechanical drawings and understanding part tolerances, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, standard industry symbols and drawing conventions to a level where the information provided is sufficient to transfer to manufacturing
• Experience in designing to requirements and standards that ensure compliance to environmental conditions like shock/vibration, moisture/dust ingress and electrical/magnetic susceptibility and emissions
• Understanding of configuration/change management principles and their application in the product development life cycle.
• Clear understanding and ability to manage/lead the work product reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.) Process for design validation throughout the planning, development and maintenance stages of product development cycle.
• Support the project team lead in the following areas:
• Budget development
• Schedule development
• Contribute to monthly progress reports (% complete, ETC, scheduling updates and out of scope tasks
• Development of work task estimates
• Identification and resolution of potential risks related to budget, schedule and product costs
• Support Production team during New Product Introduction (NPI) stages

• Build parts BOMs and respond to obsolescence as required
• Conduct and minute peer reviews of cable design output through project workflow

What you bring to the role

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Mechanical Technologist diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution
• Minimum of two years relevant work experience in design and production environment or a Master's degree and three years' design for extreme environments/marine environments
• 2+ years of PTC CREO and/or Dassault Solidworks CAD applications
• Good knowledge of MS Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio.
• Working knowledge of configuration management processes for engineering changes

Additional skills desired for the role

• Experience in power and thermal analysis for electronic enclosures
• Working knowledge of Design to Cost (DTC) and Design for Test/Manufacture (DFT/M)
• Cable/interconnect design and specification experience
• Resourceful/agreeable/extrovert to enable strong vendor liaison/customer communications
• Production and results-oriented self-starter
