Job Description

Actalent is looking for a full-time experienced Hardware Design Engineer to support a client in Ottawa, a leading company in the telecommunications industry.

Description:

The successful candidate will be part of a team of hardware designers working on the design and testing of complex PCB's for our clients products.

- Analyze and select design alternatives

- Component selection

- Detailed Design and Schematic capture of High-Speed Digital/Analog Circuits

- Oversee the CAD implementation of the PCB

- Documentation of test reports

- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams

Top Skills Details:

1. 8+ years of Hardware Design experience with implementing circuit packs (complex HW circuit packs - 18+ layers)

2. High-speed digital design experience (Ethernet switch ideally)

3. Full ownership of the circuit pack development (testing, support, documentation, DFT- producing test specifications)

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Have worked on designs with DDR3/4/5, PCIe as well as the low-level HW implementation in terms of high-speed SerDes.
• Detailed knowledge of high-speed design and transmission line theory
• Experience with the use of Schematic Capture and Layout tools (ideally Cadence Concept and Allegro)
• Extensive experience in lab measurement techniques and test equipment
• Board level simulation and circuit simulation experience
• Demonstrates initiative in working independently in solving complex problems
