Breakaway Fitness is seeking an experienced and dynamic Fitness Manager to lead our fitness center operations. The ideal candidate will oversee daily activities, manage staff, and ensure an exceptional member experience. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for health and wellness. The Fitness Manager will play a key role in driving membership growth, maintaining facility standards, and fostering a motivating environment for both staff and members.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the fitness center to ensure smooth functioning.
Recruit, train, and develop staff members to deliver outstanding customer service and maintain high performance standards.
Manage sales and marketing initiatives to increase membership enrollment and retention.
Oversee retail sales, merchandising, and pricing strategies within the facility.
Handle administrative tasks including payroll, bookkeeping, budgeting, and store management.
Maintain cleanliness, safety standards, and equipment maintenance to ensure a safe environment.
Implement training & development programs for staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Conduct interviews and participate in hiring processes for new team members.
Utilize POS systems for transactions such as cashiering, sales management, and inventory control.
Develop promotional campaigns to boost community engagement and membership participation.
Monitor financial performance through budgeting, sales tracking, and cost control measures.
Ensure effective communication with team members and members through phone etiquette and organizational skills.
Experience
and Qualifications
Proven supervisory experience in retail management or fitness center operations.
Strong background in sales management, customer service, and team leadership.
Experience with payroll processing, bookkeeping, budgeting, and administrative tasks.
Knowledge of merchandising, POS systems, purchasing, and store management practices.
Demonstrated ability to develop training programs and lead staff development initiatives.
Multilingual abilities or bilingual skills are a plus for serving diverse communities.
Excellent communication skills with proficiency in negotiation, marketing strategies, interviewing techniques, time management, organizational skills, math aptitude, and phone etiquette. Bachelor's degree in sports management, business administration, or a related field
5+ years of experience in a management role within the fitness industry
Familiarity with industry software and technology, such as gym management systems and scheduling software

Pay: $40.00-$42.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 - 40 per week
