Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Music Teacher to join our elementary school team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in teaching guitar, ukulele, and a variety of percussion instruments. You will be responsible for fostering a love of music in students from Kindergarten to Grade 7, encouraging creativity, and helping students develop their musical abilities through engaging and fun lessons.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach Music Classes:
Deliver engaging music lessons focused on guitar, ukulele, and percussion instruments to elementary students (K-7).
Lesson Planning:
Develop age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum that align with educational standards and student abilities.
Performance Preparation:
Organize and prepare students for school performances, concerts, or recitals.
Instrument Maintenance:
Teach students proper care and maintenance of instruments.
Collaborate with Teachers:
Work closely with classroom teachers and other music staff to integrate music education into broader school projects and events.
Encourage Creativity:
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel inspired to explore and express themselves through music.
Assess Student Progress:
Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and grading where applicable.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or related field.
Experience:
Previous experience teaching guitar, ukulele, and percussion instruments to children preferred.
Certifications:
Valid teaching certification
Skills:
Strong proficiency in guitar, ukulele, and percussion instruments, with a solid understanding of music theory and pedagogy. Ability to work with students of different skill levels.
Interpersonal Skills:
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
Creativity:
Innovative approach to teaching music, integrating different styles and genres to captivate young learners.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to plan and implement differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
