Guitar/Ukelele/Bass Teacher

Sound & Soul Music & Arts is looking for a Guitar/Ukelele/Bass Teacher for our school in Lethbridge, AB.

The Guitar/Ukelele/Bass Teacher is responsible for the following:

Assisting students with their musical needs, including learning to play an instrument, and read music notation.

Creating and maintaining a safe and positive learning environment for students to develop musical skills and express themselves creatively. Developing and maintain a working knowledge of the latest music technology and teaching methods. Maintaining a professional level of communication with parents, teachers, and other school staff. Establishing and maintaining a working knowledge of the development of children's musical skills through observation, discussion, and analysis. Establishing and maintaining a working knowledge of the following: basic ear training; basic piano techniques; basic string/drum/brass/woodwind/voice training; basic percussion training; basic wood/woodwind/string/drum music theory. Teaching each child to play their instrument in an efficient, and musical way. Record lesson notes for each child at each lesson and assign a weekly homework assignment where needed. Communicate effectively with students about your expectations for their progress throughout their journey. Communicate effectively with parents about the progress of their students on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Communicate effectively with your supervisor about: Your needs as a valued employee (Time off requests, changes to schedule/availability, general items). We aim to support you in all you do at our school; The special specific needs of any students or families; Any questionable, suspicious, or inappropriate behaviour, talk or interactions had between students, parents, or yourself; Any suggestions for improvement of programs or systems to make things easier for you, your students, or our families.

Requirements

Significant education in a specific genre of music. Ex - RCM or Recognized Classical or Other Guitar Program or Training, University experience, University degree, College Diploma etc. Child care (Preferred) Instructing in your musical discipline (Ex. Voice, Piano, Guitar) Ability to communicate efficiently, timely and effectively with

Students

Ability to communicate efficiently, timely and effectively with

Supervisor

Ability to pick up new concepts/work habits/processes quickly. Ability to run a simple scheduling and email system. Willingness to learn new things Desire to grow and develop as an instructor and as a good human :)

Pay: $16.00-$29.00 per hour
