Ensure the efficient completion of packaging floor activities in order to meet scheduled production deadlines, and that product quality meets the standards of Patheon, our clients, and applicable regulatory agencies including, but not limited to the Health Products and Food Branch Inspectorate (HPFBI), United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA), and European Medicines Agency (EMEA) Essential Functions:
  • Ensure quality by confronting/correcting Good Manufacturing procedure (GMP) infractions.
  • Direct packaging operations to ensure priorities including staff selection and training, product scheduling and targets are being met.
  • Plan and coordinate material flow to and from the line operations.
  • Manage the daily distribution of work for lines.
  • Trouble shoots line problems and sources appropriate action if required.
  • Perform line start up (Line Clearance).
  • Review in-process and Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) checks from each line.
  • Assist in training and development of line leaders and operators and provides performance feedback to management.
  • Assist in investigation of Deviation Reports (DR).
  • Act as back up to Line Leader and/or Packaging Supervisor.
  • Support Line Leaders in managing employee relations issues on the line.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and reports potential hazards.
  • Performs alternating or rotating shift work
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Certificate is required Experience: Minimum 3 years of previous pharmaceutical packaging and machine operating experience

Equivalency:
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid background in line management. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines and make quality decisions. Excellent knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices including excellent understanding of Standard Operating Procedures and of safety regulations. Proficiency with the English language. Strong demonstration of computer skills (including SAP) considered an asset. Standards and Expectations: Follow all Environmental Health & Safety Policies and Procedures. Work collaboratively with fellow team members, modelling positive team principles and partnering to meet project and departmental objectives. Carry out all duties within strict compliance to Patheon quality systems Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion. Actively engage in and adhere to departmental systems to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.). Be client and patient conscious at all times. Understand Key Performance Indicators and strive to improve the performance of the team by identifying areas for system improvements and engage in problem solving. Models positive thinking and is open to change, motivating the team to adapt to shifts in priorities and new ways of working. Proactively identify areas for improvement in the execution of procedures. Communicate risks to timelines in a proactive manner. Consistently strives to improve skills and knowledge in related field. Physical Requirements: Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about manufacturing/office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of up to 40 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity; visual acuity to operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time. Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, loud noise, bright lights, fumes or odour. Use of Personal Protective equipment is required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator.
