Position Overview:



The Grocery Manager plays a critical role in managing the Grocery Department at Amaranth. Accountable for minimizing out-of-stocks, ensuring product quality and freshness, providing strong team leadership, and fostering product knowledge, the Grocery Manager directly contributes to Amaranth's vision of creating a better way for us to eat, live, and thrive.

Priority Accountabilities:



These are the outcomes the team member is accountable for, as outlined in the accountability chart. These outcomes include:

Lead, Manage, and Hold Accountable (LMA):

Provide clear guidance, leadership, and feedback to grocery team members, ensuring accountability and high performance.

Quality Control:

Maintain consistent quality standards throughout the Grocery Department, including proper product rotation, accurate pricing, and shelf-tag management.

Minimize Out of Stocks:

Collaborate closely with Category Managers to effectively manage inventory levels, proactively preventing out-of-stock situations, particularly for perishable and high-demand items.

Product Knowledge:

Continuously develop and maintain thorough knowledge of grocery products and communicate effectively to both team members and customers.

In-store Sales:

Support in-store sales growth through excellent customer service, well-merchandised displays, and team engagement with promotions and special orders.

Secondary Accountabilities:



These accountabilities support the effective completion of the Priority Accountabilities:

Foster strong communication between the grocery team, Store Managers, and Category Grocery Managers. Ensure accurate receiving of shipments, timely shelf stocking, rotation, and merchandising. Maintain detailed oversight of inventory reports, managing special orders, credits, transfers, and accurate system inputs. Ensure operational checklists and reports are consistently completed and any discrepancies are promptly addressed. Train and mentor team members on grocery operations best practices.

Tactical Responsibilities:



These are the processes that the team member is responsible for executing:

Physical and electronic receiving of grocery shipments within 24 hours. Follow up promptly on damaged or mis-shipped items, managing credits and reporting as necessary. Oversee timely and accurate processing of special orders and transfers between stores. Conduct regular inventory checks including weekly master file reports, OOS, hole count, negative inventory, and discard reports. Maintain organized, clean, and safe back-stock rooms, coolers, freezers, and grocery aisles. Purchasing of perishables as needed, managing max levels, and minimizing out-of-stocks. Ensure effective end-cap management, set up, takedown, and merchandising in coordination with the Category Manager.

Qualifications and Attributes:



Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Previous supervisory experience within retail, preferably in the grocery or food industry. Intermediate computer skills, especially in database and inventory systems. Exceptional organizational skills, able to prioritize and execute tasks effectively. Interest and basic knowledge in organic and natural foods is highly valued. Food Handling Safety certification is an asset.

Time Requirements:



Full-time hourly position. Flexible working availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and shift coverage as needed. Entitled to a 30-minute unpaid meal break for shifts longer than 5 consecutive hours.

Basic Physical Requirements:



Stand for extended periods of time. Walk, bend, twist, reach above and below shoulders. Use mops, brooms, cleaning supplies, carts, pallet jack, computers, and printers. Use ladders up to 12 feet in height. This role may include lifting items up to 50 lbs. Teamwork and tools, such as carts, are available to support these tasks. Exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, freezers, outdoors).
