Position Summary

This entry-level role includes training in light and heavy grinding to finish iron castings before shipment. As a Foundry Utility Worker, you also provide essential support across the plant to keep operations running smoothly while maintaining a clean, safe work environment. The role is physically demanding: stand/walk for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift up to 50 lbs safely.

Key Responsibilities

Work safely; wear mandatory PPE; review, sign, and follow all LOTO, SWPs, and SOPs; report hazards/near?misses. Operate hand/power grinders to remove gates/risers/burrs; inspect workpieces to meet specs; accurately complete production/quality records. Prepare cores and date codes; pull out sprays every shot; clean out mullers as required; pull out/put away patterns; provide extra support to operators and teams throughout the plant. Major clean-ups of spilled sand (shoveling, sweeping); clean equipment as required; keep work area clean and organized. General: Perform other related duties as assigned.

Schedule

Full-time, 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday. Rotating three-shift schedule: Day, Afternoon/Evening, and Night. Employees rotate to the next shift approximately every two (2) weeks.)

Minimum Requirements

Ability to work safely in a foundry environment with required PPE. Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, perform repetitive motions, and stand/walk for long periods. Reliable attendance: willing to work rotating shifts and overtime as required. Clean?shaven for respirator fit testing. Basic English communication (read, write, speak).

Compensation

Starting rate: $19.34 per hour. Health, dental, extended health/vision. Life and disability insurance. Pension/RRSP contributions per CBA.
