Job Description

Position Summary:

Mariposa House Hospice is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Grief and Bereavement Coordinator to support our mission of providing compassionate care to individuals and families experiencing loss. This role is integral to the delivery of our grief and bereavement services, with a special focus on children and youth. The successful candidate will work closely with the Supportive Care Social Worker to provide emotional support, coordinate programming, and assist with community outreach and events.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct intake assessments for individuals and families seeking grief and bereavement support.

Make follow-up phone calls to clients to provide ongoing support and assess needs.

Provide one-to-one in-house support for clients, under the guidance of the Supportive Care Social Worker.

Participate in program evaluation tasks including resident & family check ins, distributing follow-up surveys, and making calls to past clients.

Assist in the planning and facilitation of grief support groups, including adult, child, and youth groups.

Take a lead role in the Child and Youth Grief and Bereavement Program, including program development, facilitation, and evaluation.

Support the coordination and execution of memorial events, workshops, and community outreach initiatives.

Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in accordance with hospice policies and ethical standards.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in Social Work, Psychology, Child and Youth Work, or related field.

Experience working with individuals experiencing grief and loss, particularly children and youth.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and non-judgmental approach.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for events or group facilitation.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic administrative tasks.

Additional Information:

This is a part-time position (2 days per week), with flexible hours to be approved by the supervisor. Opportunity for increased hours.

Training and ongoing supervision will be provided.

A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle may be required for off-site events.

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week
