Position Title: Greenhouse Nursery Worker \xe2\x80\x93 Spring Shipping (Short-Term Contract) Organization: Jplant Location: Napanee, Ontario Contract Duration: 6-week duration from April 24th, 2023 to May 2nd, 2023. Possibility for extension. Application Deadline: April 16, 2023 Hours: 40 hours per week Wage: $16.00 per hour Jplant is a propagation nursery located just north of the 401 in Napanee, Ontario. We propagate, grow, sell, and ship small plants in Canada. The types of plants we raise generally include perennials, ornamental grasses, flowering shrubs, fruit-bearing shrubs, and bamboo. We make all sales online and ship to clients thus there is no public customer relations on site. We are currently seeking several motivated, hard-working individuals to join our team for the spring. These positions are short-term contracts for 6 weeks from April 24th to May 2nd to assist with our busy spring shipping season. Everyday there is a new series of orders to pick up and package. Teams will pick up plants needed for the day\xe2\x80\x99s orders, gathering only the strongest, most suitable plants for sale. Then each order is dispatched and sent to the packaging team. Keeping each order separate and organized, the team will prepare orders by placing plants in plastic bags and building boxes. Lastly, each order is packaged by placing the plants in boxes with care so they are not damaged during shipping. All daily orders must be completed by the afternoon for delivery. While this position is a short-term contract, there may be possibilities for full-time or part-time extension based on the individual\xe2\x80\x99s performance and the needs of the company following the shipping period. Additionally, we are a growing company and always seeking hard working individuals to join our team in the future.

• Work with a small nursery team

• Assist with plant pick up and select strongest plants for sale

Qualifications

• Education and/or experience in horticulture or a related field is an asset

• Quick learner and able to work in a fast-paced environment

• Responsible and able to work independently

• Organized and strong attention to detail

• Good communication skills and ability to work in a small team

\xc2\xb7 Able to complete tasks efficiently and on schedule

• Able to understand and follow directions exactly as given

• Attention to detail

• Health and Safety mindfulness

• Valid G class drivers license (or able to arrange reliable transportation to the nursery)

• Fitness: A variety of tasks require workers to stay in one position over long periods of time: standing, kneeling, sitting. Able to safely lift 40lbs on occasion, and possibly participate in small construction projects.

• Ability to work outdoors in hot summer weather and rain.
