The Engage Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting marginalized and racialized young people through civic engagement. Our aim is to foster a generation of well-informed, engaged, and empowered young Canadians who actively take part in community initiatives, contribute to positive changes, and advance equity. We emphasize connecting youth with community leaders, fostering meaningful discussions, and providing them with the tools for effective community involvement.

Role Description:



The Designer will play a key role in shaping our visual identity, helping us to inspire and engage youth in advocacy and social policy development. The primary responsibilities will include designing visually compelling social media graphics, such as carousels, and stylizing reports for publication to ensure they are accessible, professional, and aligned with our mission. This position is ideal for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and is passionate about using design to drive social impact.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Create Social Media Graphics:

Design eye-catching and engaging social media content (i.e., carousels, infographics, banners, etc.) that align with our branding and campaign goals. Collaborate with the communications and marketing team to develop visual assets that complement written content and resonate with our youth audience. Stay updated on social media trends to produce innovative designs that boost engagement and reach.
2. Stylize Reports for Publication:

Design and format reports, policy documents, and other publications to ensure clarity, accessibility, and aesthetic appeal. Work with research teams to create visually appealing graphics and layouts based on data, statistics, and other complex information. Ensure all reports adhere to branding guidelines and are optimised for both digital and print formats.
3. Qualifications and Skills:

Proven experience in graphic design, with a portfolio demonstrating expertise in social media content creation and publication design. Proficiency in design tools such as Canva, the Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent. Strong understanding of layout principles, typography, and colour theory. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team. Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. Knowledge of accessibility standards in design is an asset. Familiarity with social media platforms and a keen eye for emerging digital trends.

Preferred Experience:



Experience working in nonprofit or advocacy organisations is a plus. Understanding of youth engagement strategies and how design can be used to promote social change.
