What will you do?
Reporting to the Director, External Relations, the Graphic Designer creates visual content to communicate internal and external messages effectively. Utilizing various design elements, the Position develops graphics for a range of media including digital platforms, print, and multimedia. Their work involves conceptualizing visuals based on organizational requirements, creating images, layouts, and logos, and ensuring the final product aligns with brand standards and project goals.
Job Responsibilities
Design electronic and printed materials for trade exhibits, displays, publications, marketing materials, websites, and other channels.
Meet with clients, team members, and any relevant stakeholders to determine requirements and vision for design elements, which may include multiple strategy meetings.
Design and edit multimedia content including videos and photographs using Adobe Creative Suite tools to support branding initiatives.
Capture, retouch, and curate high-quality images and video assets for use across web, social media, and print platforms.
Utilize WordPress to update and maintain visually compelling layouts, optimized media, and consistent brand styling on the website.
Design assets within current brand guidelines including logos, letterheads, brochures, presentations, promotional materials, and website elements.
Create and produce JPEGs, PDFs, video, clip art, graphs, charts, thumbnail images, and other design elements.
Create multiple versions of a similar product and request approvals.
Choose the appropriate fonts, colors, shapes, designs, styles, and layouts for projects.
Plan production schedules and workflow for the entire design process.
Integrate multimedia concepts with technical graphic design elements, as appropriate.
Develop specifications and standards for printing and other production.
Identify, source, and select vendors and service providers for printing and publication services, as necessary (e.g. illustrators, printers, typesetters, photographers, etc.).
Select the appropriate media and materials (e.g. paper, ink, etc.) for communications.
Inspect proofs for accuracy and adherence to corporate standards.
Provide technical graphics assistance across the organization.
Coordinate and maintain a library of graphics, media, digital records, and other enterprise content.

Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Graphic Design, Communications, or related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution.
3-5 years of experience in a graphic design role.
Strong proficiency using graphic design platforms and tools, including Canva, the Adobe Creative Suite, and WordPress.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including SharePoint, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Skilled in photography and video production, including image retouching and editing for digital and print use.
Experience leveraging both digital (e.g., logos, graphics, video editing) and non-digital design (e.g., banners, signs) mediums.
Time management skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects with various deadlines.
Strong attention to detail to ensure that all client and stakeholder specifications are met and free of error.
Collaboration skills and patience for sending creative designs through approval processes and working with several individuals throughout the design process.
Creative mindset and the ability to bring a design to life with simple instructions.
Precision in managing content, maintaining accuracy and consistency.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying workload and an environment which regularly undergoes change (both planned and unplanned) to accommodate member needs and/or organizational circumstances.
Familiarity with the construction industry and an understanding of current issues and trends is an asset.
Valid Alberta Class 5 Drivers License (or equivalent).
