Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced full-time Graphic Designer with prepress and digital operating experience (preferably, but not necessary). This ideal incumbent will have a graphic design background, a passion for digital technologies, and knowledge of the digital media landscape, social media platforms and web needs. This position requires an individual that has a drive for excellence and who works well in a team-based, fast paced and detail-oriented environment. • Create innovative designs that work within traditional formats as well as new marketing solutions.

• Create artwork based on client specification within established timeframes.

• Prepare layouts, image boxes, place logos and assemble pages.

• Prepare files for print production.

• Adhere to production schedules.

Qualifications - Graphic Design:

• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Photoshop).
• Experience with Web Design software such as Dreamweaver, working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript would be an asset.
• Experience in designing packaging would be an asset.
• Strong knowledge base of Excel and ability to manage data using the program.
• Experience with image manipulation, colour correcting, close cropping, editing, and retouching.
• Knowledge of PC and MAC based applications and programs.
• Must be well organized to enable the planning, development, and execution of projects.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently without supervision.
• Retail advertising and print production experience is a definite asset but not necessary.

Preferable Prepress & Digital Operations Responsibilities:

• Prepare files for litho printing as well as digital services.
• Plan job layouts taking into consideration press requirements, bindery requirements, outsourcing, etc.
• Prepare files for a variety of in-house and outsourced finishing methods.
• Alter client provided artwork if needed.
• Make sure that jobs leave the prepress department with the appropriate proofing materials for CTP output.
• Producing plates for the press.

Preferable qualifications for Prepress and Digital Operations:

• Knowledge of Heidelberg Prinect Cockpit system.
• Knowledge of Heidelberg Suprasetter.
• Previous Experience with Variable Digital Print.
• Experience operating commercial Digital printers.
• Experience with Fiery imposition software, plus quality control practices and procedures.
• knowledge of printing process, colour spaces, working styles, hard & soft proofing, etc.
• Experience with Adobe PDF workflows: preflighting, imposition and output.
