About the

role




We're looking for graduates from a range of degrees for different areas across our business. This requisition is for a role of Graduate Chemical / Process / Metallurgical Engineer based at Rio Tinto Kitimat, BC.


As the successful candidate, your role will include:

Develop and operate processes for converting and refining raw materials into products Participate in improving product quality to ensure customer satisfaction; Participate in improving the performance of aluminum alloy preparation, casting and treatment processes

To be eligible for the Graduate program,you must have completed your studies within the last two years (2023, 2024) or working towards graduation in 2025.

Bachelor or master's degree in Chemical / Process / Metallurgical Engineering or other related field Less than two years of relevant work experience (local and international) Right to work in Canada Valid driver's license A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team Leadership skills, eagerness to learn and ready for the challenges ahead Interest in working in a large complex industrial environment Safety mindset Excellent verbal and written communication skills Flexibility and autonomy Enthusiasm to collaborate with different teams in unique environments

The base salary for this role is $85,700 CAD in addition to allowances, bonus, equity, health or retirement benefits, and any other discretionary benefits offered at Rio Tinto. Our base salary ranges are based on role, level, and location. Our talent acquisition partners can share more during the hiring process.

Rio Tinto BC Works is a part of the Atlantic Operations of the Aluminum product group. Rio Tinto has been operating in British Columbia for over 65 years. With industry leading new technology and four generations of employee expertise, as well as our hydropower facility at Kemano and the Nechako Reservoir, the Kitimat smelter is one of the most driven aluminum smelters in the world, producing aluminum with one of the lowest carbon footprints in the world.
