About Potash

BHP\'s Jansen Potash Project located approximately 140 km east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is BHP\'s first and most advanced potash project. Jansen will add diversity and a Canadian presence to BHP\'s global portfolio. Jansen\'s large resource endowment provides the opportunity to develop it in stages, with anticipated initial capacity of 4.35 Mtpa. The BHP Board has recently sanctioned Jansen Project (Stage 1), with a US $5.7 billion investment. The project is now entering the construction phase, with the first potash expected in 2027.

About the Graduate Program

The 24-month graduate program focuses on developing, engaging, managing change and achieving results. It\'s a balanced approach to technical and professional development to ensure you have well-rounded capabilities. This will be the cornerstone of your BHP Career.
Graduates will rotate into different teams 2-4 times, to help build technical capabilities, working relationships with new people and leadership skills. You\'ll be guided by our leaders as you work on real projects, offering accelerated learning and career path opportunities. Near the end of the program, you\'ll be provided the choice to stay in the same commodity or seek opportunities elsewhere in BHP to demonstrate all that you have learnt.

Purpose

BHP is looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Electrical Engineer to support the team\'s contribution to the advisory, design and evaluation of the installation, operation, maintenance, and oversight of electrical equipment and/or instrumentation & control systems, or components for commercial or industrial use. The Graduate Electrical Engineer, Potash will join a global cohort of like-minded graduates who will be supported, motivated, and mentored to develop the skills required to work on real business problems, and given an opportunity to create a career that will have a lasting impact on themselves and on the world.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Apply an understanding of Electrical Engineering and/or Instrumentation & Control Systems Engineering related terminology, theory, key processes, and activities.
  • Employ specific/relevant discipline engineering expertise and leadership to meet BHP\'s technical expectations.
  • Assess change impacts to prepare integrated change management plans, manage change readiness and resistance, and upskill leaders and impacted stakeholders in the adoption and successful delivery of the change.
  • Determine the underlying cause of problems and evaluate multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.
  • Identify, engage, and manage a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and assess risks, make risk informed decisions, use BHP\'s risk management framework, and build a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
  • Source information, plan and conduct analyses to support evidence-based decision making.
Work Location

Jansen site, Leroy Saskatchewan. Monday - Friday, 47.5 hours a week.

About You

To be considered, you will need:
  • A post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline obtained within the last two years or be eligible for graduation by May/June 2024.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build working relationships with various teams across the organization.

  • Given the opportunity to learn an operation from the beginning - through construction, operations readiness and into the operations ramp up.
