About Potash
BHP\'s Jansen Potash Project located approximately 140 km east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is BHP\'s first and most advanced potash project. Jansen will add diversity and a Canadian presence to BHP\'s global portfolio. Jansen\'s large resource endowment provides the opportunity to develop it in stages, with anticipated initial capacity of 4.35 Mtpa. The BHP Board has recently sanctioned Jansen Project (Stage 1), with a US $5.7 billion investment. The project is now entering the construction phase, with the first potash expected in 2027.
About the Graduate Program
The 24-month graduate program focuses on Developing, Engaging, Managing Change and Achieving Results. It\'s a balanced approach to technical and professional development to ensure you have well-rounded capabilities. This will be the cornerstone of your BHP Career.
Graduates will rotate into different teams 2-4 times, to help build technical capabilities, working relationships with new people and leadership skills. You\'ll be guided by our leaders as you work on real projects, offering accelerated learning and career path opportunities. Near the end of the program, you\'ll be provided the choice to stay in the same commodity or seek opportunities elsewhere in BHP to demonstrate all that you have learnt.
Purpose
BHP is looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Data Engineer to support the team\'s contribution to the delivery, storage, and processing of data, as well as provide data engineering and support capabilities to enable the delivery of effective business solutions. The Graduate Data Engineer, Potash will join a global cohort of like-minded graduates who will be supported, motivated, and mentored to develop the skills required to work on real business problems, and given an opportunity to create a career that will have a lasting impact on themselves and on the world.
About the Role
In this role, you will:
Wrangle, cleanse, and manage data/meta data to maintain the quality and integrity of BHP data and ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and legal requirements.
Define, design, and deliver data models, structures, and associated components to support BHP business intelligence and data analytics requirements.
Develop and construct reliable data sets infrastructure that collects, integrates, and migrates data to enable subsequent business use, analysis, and promote re-use.
Define, analyze, and structure business data problems to identify what can be addressed using analytics and visualization.
Design analytics solutions, access, and clean data to prepare it for the analysis process.
Identify the root cause of problems and evaluate various alternatives to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.
Work Location
Downtown, Saskatoon office (with occasional visit to the Jansen site). 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.
