With the towering beauty of Vancouver's North Shore Mountains serving as a backdrop, Mayfair Lakes in Richmond is a genuine golf sanctuary, offering year-round, semi-private golf in a secluded country ambience just minutes from Vancouver.

Reporting to the golf course General Manager and collaborating with the GolfBC Director of Grounds Maintenance, this is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow their skills managing our expansive grounds, including the 18-hole course, practice facility, wedding site, and club house gardens. In recent years, the club has reinvested significant funds back into the property and is working with Lobb+Partners on a long-range Master Plan to modernize the course. With some exciting projects and developments in the works, our next Superintendent will have the opportunity to have a great impact on our facility.

Responsibilities

Golf Course Maintenance and Upgrades

Ensure the entire Grounds Department operates efficiently while maintaining exceptional playing conditions Maintain detailed records and collect operational data to support daily objective-setting and ensure playing conditions meet established standards Oversee the property maintenance and aesthetic, conducive to this renowned facility Oversee course infrastructure including drainage, hydraulic irrigation system, cart paths, etc. Provide key updates to senior leadership Team Members Drive progression on the Golf Course Master Plan, while adhering to budget Prepare and manage the operating budget and update the five-year capital plan Oversee equipment maintenance and repair

Team Member Development

Recruit, coach, train and lead the Maintenance Team to optimum performance while ensuring their safety Work alongside and hands-on to act as a mentor to Team Members Develop and engage the Team with the company purpose: to enrich lives and inspire connection. Schedule, coordinate and train Team Members to ensure that course maintains optimum conditioning

Guest Experience

Maintain course conditions exceed guest expectations Ensure the Team is knowledgeable and able to answer guest questions

Candidate Profile5 to 10 years of experience as a leader in a golf course grounds maintenance team Relevant education in agronomy or plant and soil science and Turfgrass Management Strong problem solving, decision making and organizational skills Excellent interpersonal, leadership and English communication skills Able to work in a fast-paced environment and on evenings/weekends/holidays when necessary Willing to be hands on with the Team as well as complete necessary admin tasks Experience liaising with construction companies is an asset Proficient in using technology and various computer software programs to improve on course conditions and increase efficiency Embraces our core values
