Position Summary:

The Global Lead Buyer (GLB) for Lab Services is responsible to work closely across functional business partners and with third party providers to design, develop and monitor global sourcing strategies across Sanofi BUs (R&D, IA and Vaccines).

The role is a leadership role that can operate with a strategic view and can translate needs or ideas into actions, while collaborating with teams and effectively communicating to all stakeholders.

The GLB will ensure robust category strategies are set to support technical R&D projects and realize year-on-year productivity improvements, cost savings, and process improvement in collaboration with the customers in the business.

As a primary point of contact for Lab Services, He/She will be responsible to evaluate the market industry practices that can be transferred into our activities by capturing supplier innovation and providing recommendations to decisions makers on best practices that could support and accelerate Sanofi pipeline.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy and Sourcing:

Developing and implementing approved strategies that actively search for performance improvement and cost reduction opportunities by understanding R&D stakeholder needs, supply market trends and innovation.

Being accountable for managing an annual category spend of over 60M EUR.

Driving supplier performance, contract effectiveness, collaboration and deliver improved results with key suppliers within the assigned commodities.

Conducting detailed demand, spend, cost and market analysis and a structured approach to tendering and negotiating with suppliers.

Responsible for development and implementation of the robust category strategies that meet the needs of multiple cross-divisional stakeholders as well as drive exceptional value for Sanofi.

Operational:

Ensuring alignment and harmonization of operating model to develop and drive Procurement Policy.

Institute global governance and global reviews across the regions to monitor category performance.

Ensuring global and consistent support to buyers when needed.

Develop a set of global and harmonized key indicators across the business units to drive and enhance category performance.

Globalize and consolidate business needs, pull multiple entities operating similar purchases/services, to standardize and scale-up the activities.

Accelerate digitalization by understanding market trends and transferring into Sanofi digital solutions such as Marketplaces, etc.

Partnering:

Developing presentation materials, leads & facilitates key meetings with senior leaders and leverages strong communication skills to achieve desired outcomes.

Working with R&D, IA and Vaccines stakeholders to understand the demand/spend profile of assigned category and sub-category risks and business requirements for category plans and sourcing projects.

Partner and develop proposals for strategic business decisions and contribute to Category Councils.

Context of The Job:

Ability to combine a strategic vision with the tools to define concrete action plans and ensure their implementation in changing external and internal environments.

Position requires a data driven and open mind with flexibility to effectively work with cross-functional and multicultural teams to manage changes for continuous process improvement.

Establishing the presence and demonstrating the expertise to bring external partners as a competitive advantage for Sanofi.

Managing the diversity of the GBUs in relation to outsourcing strategies while leveraging the Sanofi external spend, reduction of suppliers and ensuring state of art practices on contracts and financial terms.

Key Requirements:

BS / BA or equivalent international university degree required, MS / MBA preferred, Degree in science, engineering, or economics, or purchasing certification or school/course work.

Global view, systematic approach and detail-oriented individual with a focus on project execution, quality, efficiency, and cost.

Ability to process complex scenarios and apply the necessary strategy efficiently.

Data driven and solving problem skills.

Good understanding of finance, business, operations, and legal aspects.

Ability to gain an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the various Lab Categories.

Effective, high-level communicator, good organizational skills, excellent presentation skills.

Strong and proven negotiation skills.

Flexible, receptive, resourceful, creative, and results oriented.

Ability to drive cost savings, process optimization, time efficiency and User's satisfaction outcomes.

Ability to build relationships and manage expectations with key internal clients and external suppliers with multicultural teams.

Ethics, integrity, and clarity.

Languages:

English language proficiency, written and verbal

French or German is a plus.
