We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate educator to lead the Visual and Dramatic Arts program--someone who can inspire student achievement through innovation, artistic exploration, and a deep commitment to excellence.

Position Overview



The Gifted Arts Teacher will deliver engaging, high-level instruction in both Visual Arts and Dramatic Arts, tailored to meet the needs of gifted learners. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of professional artistic experience and classroom expertise, with a demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and connect with students across a range of ages. A deep understanding of the Ontario education system and gifted programming is essential.

Working Hours:

? Monday to Friday, 8:30a.m.-11:55a.m./12:40 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. (and beyond as needed for school programming)

? The teacher is expected to stay after school to run a club or lead an arts-related class.

Key Responsibilities



? Develop and teach high school courses in Visual Arts and Dramatic Arts, in alignment with the Ontario Curriculum and the specialized goals of the Gifted Arts Program.

? Inspire and challenge students through differentiated, inquiry-based learning activities and enriched arts programming.

? Design and lead extracurricular arts initiatives, such as school productions, exhibitions, clubs, and student-led arts projects.

? Mentor students preparing portfolios, performances, or scholarship applications related to the arts.

? Clearly articulate and promote the goals of the Gifted Arts Program to students, families, and the wider school community.

? Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to integrate the arts into cross-curricular experiences.

? Support the Artistic Director.

Qualifications and Experience



Professional Artist Background

? Demonstrated experience as a visual artist and/or theatre practitioner with an active portfolio.

? Participation in professional exhibitions, performances, festivals, or showcases.

? Recognition through awards, grants, or scholarships is a strong asset.

? Formal training in fine arts, theatre, or a related discipline (e.g., BFA, MFA, conservatory, or equivalent professional experience).

Teaching Experience

? Minimum 3 years of teaching experience, with a strong preference for candidates who have taught a variety of age groups.

? Mandatory experience teaching high school-level arts courses in Ontario or a comparable educational system.

? Familiarity with the Ontario Curriculum, differentiated instruction, and strategies for gifted education.

? Ability to explain, promote, and evolve the Gifted Arts Program at Laureate College with clarity and innovation.

? Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification or equivalent is preferred.

Leadership Skills

? Proven ability to lead and coordinate teams, arts events, and school-wide arts initiatives.

? Strong facilitation skills in guiding committees, student projects, and collaborative productions.

? Ability to enlist student engagement in arts-based extracurricular activities, clubs, and competitions.

? Experience in initiating and sustaining arts programs or community arts projects.

? Start Date: 2025-2026 School Year
