The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of civil infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, tunnels, buildings, and water systems, ensuring high-quality and compliant engineering outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead geotechnical project activities from proposal to construction completion.
Supervise geotechnical investigations, soil sampling, in-situ testing, and borehole programs.
Analyze and interpret field and lab data; prepare geotechnical recommendations, slope stability, and foundation designs.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., Ontario Building Code, municipal/regional requirements).
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including environmental, hydrogeological, and materials specialists.
Mentor and supervise junior engineers, technologists, and technicians.
Prepare detailed technical reports, present findings to clients, and provide project updates.
Oversee field operations ensuring safety, quality control, and adherence to project specifications.
Contribute to research and innovation initiatives within the geotechnical group.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering (Geotechnical focus), or a related field.
Professional Designation:
P.Eng. in Ontario (or eligibility for licensure in Canada).
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of geotechnical engineering experience in Canada, with exposure to infrastructure, municipal, or environmental projects.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in geotechnical design software (e.g., SLOPE/W, PLAXIS, Lpile) and strong technical writing abilities.
Field Experience:
Proven ability to lead site investigations, inspections, and quality assurance programs.
Soft Skills:
Strong communication, leadership, and client management skills.
Other Requirements:
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites within Ontario.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range:
CAD $90,000 - $120,000 per year (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
