This is a co-op opportunity for Fall 2025 (September-December)

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented co-op student to support the

thin section preparation

stage in our geological lab. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced lab technicians and geologists, gaining hands-on experience in a professional lab environment. This role is an excellent opportunity for students interested in the intersection of geoscience and technical laboratory work.

Key Responsibilities



Assist with sample cutting, grinding, and polishing using industry-standard and custom machinery Perform epoxy impregnation, mounting, and lapping of geological materials Prepare various types of rocks, sediments, and core samples for petrographic analysis Follow documented workflows to ensure sample quality and consistency Maintain a safe and clean workspace in compliance with lab protocols Support daily lab operations, including inventory and basic equipment maintenance

Must Have Qualifications



Enrolled in a recognized Co-op program at a post-secondary institution in Canada

Background in Earth Sciences, Geology, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field

Strong attention to detail and good manual dexterity

Interest in lab-based or hands-on work involving tools and machines

Ability to follow detailed instructions and quality standards

Eligible to work in Canada during the Fall 2025 term

Must be located in commutable distance to Langley, British Columbia, Canada

Assets (not required)



? Previous lab, workshop, or fabrication experience

? Familiarity with geological or mineral samples

Job Type: Internship / Co-op
Contract length: 4 months

Pay: $17.43-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week

Langley, BC V1M 3S3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
