The UBC CDC, located at the BCCDC, is hiring a Genomic Analyst to support pathogen genomics research projects in a One Health context. Working with an interdisciplinary team of microbiologists, scientists, epidemiologists, veterinarians and technicians at BCCDC and Animal Health Centre (AHC), the Genomics Specialist supports a wide scope of genomics needs. This includes, but is not limited to, overseeing wet laboratory method development and building analytic approaches, including pipeline development and deployment, data integration and phylogenetic analyses. The Genomic Specialist is also responsible for investigating, analyzing, proposing and implementing solutions based on best practices and novel developments in genomic methods and analytic solutions. Additional responsibilities include liaising with external and internal project team members, drafting manuscripts and routine reporting to project funders. The Genomic Analyst works as a team player, collaborating and building relationships with medical, clinical and scientific staff as well as with national and international collaborators. This position is grant-funded with a possibility of extension.Organizational Status
The Genomics Specialist will report directly to the study Principal Investigators at BCCDC and AHC overseeing the One Health projects. They will work collaboratively with other research team members, including senior scientists, research assistants, graduate student trainees, and other research personnel.Work Performed
