We are currently seeking for a General Woodworking Machinist to join our team!This position involves working a 40-hour work week, with day shift and Saturday/Sunday as off days, including weekends and Statutory Holidays. You may be required to work out of all TTC Streetcar Carhouses as per business needs.What You Will Do

  • You will be responsible to complete varied and moderately complex work involving the repair, fabrication and assembly of components for the production of wooden or plastic products such as (but not limited to) window frames, doors, ladders, furniture/fixtures, benches, shelving, frames, jigs, templates etc.
  • You will select materials, and set-up, adjust and operate a variety of woodworking machinery such as (but not limited to lathes, saws, boring machines, planers, shapers, jointer etc.)
  • You will assemble and reassemble and final finish of wooden/plastic products
  • You will demonstrate behaviors that supports diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. What Qualificaitons Do You Bring
  • Your education and training will consist of a completion of Grade 12, technical program, or its recognized equivalent as defined by the TTC's Operations Training Centre Department.
  • Additionally, your knowledge in Trade subjects such as blueprint reading, drafting and mathematics is required.
  • You must have approximately 3-years of extensive experience in a related woodworking machine shop environment where equipment such as lathes, planers, shapers, jointers, saws, etc. are used to produce wooden/plastic products.
  • You must pass practical test set and supervised by the Operations Group.
