The Specialized Infrastructure Services unit is responsible for the maintenance and operation of various city infrastructure, including bridges, auxiliary services like road right-of-way assets, paving operations, and traffic field operations such as sign creation and pavement markings.


Reporting to the Director, Mobility Infrastructure Services, the General Supervisor, Specialized Infrastructure Services oversees program supervisors, who serve as operational authorities for each mobility infrastructure program. This position involves leading teams, providing expert guidance for the operations, execution, and maintenance of mobility infrastructure throughout the city.


The General Supervisor ensures that maintenance and operation plans for programs adhere to all service levels and infrastructure requirements, in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory obligations, codes, standards, and specifications. This role also assumes responsibility for the unit's high performance, offering quality assurance oversight and team leadership.

What will you do?



Lead a team of professionals and specialists in the execution of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and operational projects Translate strategic directions and plans into actionable work plans Engage and support staff in developing action plans to enhance communication, solve problems creatively, promote integration and support excellence Ensure staff are empowered, have the competencies, and are well equipped to perform their roles Strategically identify and allocate necessary resources, including staffing and budget, for the successful execution of projects and programs Ensure the prudent and effective use of financial and human resources, determine and review annual budget requirements, and proactively monitor performance and financial reporting Ensure strict adherence to all Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S), APEGA standards, ENVISO environmental management system, procurement guidelines, project, program management methodologies, and all other relevant City policies and procedures throughout the area Apply the GBA+ process to the development and review of policies, practices and frameworks

Qualifications

:Knowledge or training, with a degree in Engineering, Business, Science, or other related disciplines Experience in a leadership role within a large, complex unionized organization Demonstrated senior level knowledge in program/project management with experience overseeing projects related to the operation, maintenance and repair of structures, and other critical infrastructure Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent). Successful candidates must provide a current clean 5 year driver's abstract Combinations of education and experience will be considered

Assets:



Project Management Professional (PMP) or a related certification Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing and registered as practicing with APEGA. Applicants in a different Canadian jurisdiction eligible for Inter-Provincial Mobility (IPMA) with APEGA may be considered Experience working with large seasonal operations and staff changeover Recognized certification in Roadway or Infrastructure Maintenance, Asset Management or a related certification Additional certification or coursework/training in financial management, public works administration, change management, or other leadership training

Conditions of Employment and Work Environment:



1 permanent, full-time position. Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and a parks operational yard Salary: (Annually) $120,328.53 - $150,408.62 Hire is dependent on Criminal Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton.
