Backed by a fifth-generation family-owned company, our client is a leading distributor of commercial print and business papers, specialty products, graphic solutions, sign & display equipment and materials, and packaging and facility supplies and equipment.

We're based in Vaughan, Ontario, with 15 regional locations that include custom manufacturing facilities in Edmonton, Toronto and Winnipeg, as well as cash and carry locations, product showrooms and equipment demo sites.

We are currently looking for a

General Sales Manager

located in Vancouver, BC reporting to the Vice-President Commercial Print.

Position Summary



The General Sales Manager is responsible for providing sales management leadership and direction to branch/division management, employees, customers, and suppliers. Responsibilities include operating as a profit centre in accordance with corporate policies, specifically focused on profit and return-on-investment objectives. In addition, the position provides direction in sales strategies, distribution operations and service activities. The General Sales Manager is responsible for branch/division employee relations to ensure harmonious, trained and service-oriented employees focused on branch/division goals and objectives.

Your Challenge



Under the supervision of the Vice-President Commercial Print, the duties and responsibilities of the General Sales Manager include, but are not limited to, the following: Manage and lead the division in BC as a profit center, overseeing the preparation of accurate sales forecasts and the annual operating budget Provide leadership, coaching and assistance to Account Managers by establishing performance goals, monitoring results, and implementing continuous improvement strategies Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities by conducting comprehensive market and competitor analyses, adapting sales strategies accordingly Monitor division performance continuously and implement timely corrective actions to achieve sales and profitability targets Collaborate closely with Category Directors to develop tailored sales strategies for individual market segments, ensuring sustained growth across geographic territories Track and analyze growth trends across all market segments to inform strategic decision-making Design, negotiate, and implement local product incentive programs in partnership with vendor representatives, providing financial support as needed Review, approve, and process department managers' staffing recommendations, ensuring alignment with company policies and operational needs Partner with department managers on recruitment, selection, and training initiatives to build a skilled and motivated sales team Represent the company in sales and customer relations activities for major accounts, maintaining a senior management presence and staying attuned to market conditions and trends Approve inventory decisions related to product additions, deletions, and stocking levels within the strategic vendor commitment program; coordinate with other divisions to optimize inventory asset management Collaborate closely with operations to streamline and optimize internal processes, driving measurable improvements in sales performance and growth Maintain strong communication and collaboration with Division Managers and Vice-Presidents to facilitate the exchange of market, product, and competitor intelligence, fostering an environment of open idea sharing Provide comprehensive reports on division activities, including: Financial results covering sales, gross profit, expenses, operating profit, and working capital Projections related to revenue, expenses, profit, and working capital Updates on market conditions, competitive activities, and emerging opportunities Actively engage in industry associations and committees to represent the company and stay informed of industry developments Uphold and promote fairness and integrity in all interactions with employees, suppliers, and customers Consistently embody and champion the core guiding principles and leadership pledge Perform additional duties as assigned to support divisional and company objectives

Qualifications



Completion of a post-secondary degree in a business-related field Strong knowledge of paper manufacturing and distribution, printing processes, customer buying behaviors, and market dynamics. Knowledge and understanding of graphic products, sign and display or industrial packaging supplies is a strong asset Minimum 5 years' experience in a sales management capacity Experience and education in financial management, distribution, asset management, sales, and marketing Strong communication skills (both oral and written) Excellent presentation skills Proficient in using MS Office Excellent leadership skills Strong decision making and implementation abilities Excellent customer service skills Strong organization and time-management skills Excellent teamwork and team building skills Strong analytic and problem-solving skills Self-directed and self-motivated; and Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities Highly detail-oriented, able to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks efficiently
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $135,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
