PURPOSE OF POSITION As part of the Destination Management Division, the General Manager, Vancouver, Coast & Mountains (VCM) tourism region plays a strategic role in driving and influencing stakeholder engagement with Destination BC\xe2\x80\x99s programs and services specifically in the VCM tourism region. Key responsibilities for this position include overseeing the VCM tourism region contracts and programs (budget of $1Million) and leadership of the VCM team. The VCM tourism region is uniquely managed by Destination BC. The region expands outwards from Metro Vancouver along three main arteries: the Sunshine Coast, Sea-to-Sky Corridor, and the Fraser Valley and Fraser Canyon. The VCM tourism region aims to increase the net benefits of tourism, in the region, by acting as a service delivery agent for Destination BC programs and services as well as implementing regionally prioritized destination management projects. The VCM tourism region is focused on renewal and resiliency. Reporting to the Director, Indigenous & Regional Partnerships, this position leads the delivery of regional services through the Vancouver, Coast & Mountains annual Business Plan. Continuing to support industry throughout VCM, and build our presence in the region, this position requires exceptional strategic planning, relationship building, and resources management skills. Providing strategic leadership in this position is required to align deliverables and resources with divisional and corporate goals, creating awareness of new initiatives, and developing team members. This leadership role will foster, influence, and maintain collaborative relationships with government, regional and industry partners to deliver on the goals set out for the Destination Management Division as part of the overall Destination BC corporate strategy.
