CARSTAR Owen Sound is opening soon, and we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated
General Manager
to lead our new collision repair facility.
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, driving performance, managing team members, and ensuring exceptional customer service. You will work closely with technicians, painters, detailers, estimators, and administrative staff to ensure the facility operates efficiently and meets CARSTAR's high standards.
You will also be supported by a
strong corporate support team
to assist with operations, financial analysis, HR processes, and performance systems as needed.
Responsibilities
Operations & Leadership
Oversee all daily shop operations including workflow, productivity, and repair quality
Lead a high-performing collision repair team and ensure collaboration across all departments
Conduct daily production meetings with staff to review schedules, workload, and priorities
Maintain a professional, team-oriented workplace environment
Hire, coach, schedule, and support staff to meet operational goals
Customer Service & Insurance Relations
Ensure exceptional customer service from intake to vehicle delivery
Communicate clearly with customers regarding timelines, repairs, and expectations
Work directly with insurance partners and DRP programs to maintain compliance and strong relationships
Ensure documentation, communication, and repair procedures align with insurer requirements
Financial & Performance Management
Manage shop profitability including labour efficiency, gross profit targets, and cost control
Monitor KPIs such as cycle time, touch time, productivity, and CSI
Review estimates, supplements, and repair plans to support accuracy and profitability
Identify and implement opportunities for operational improvement
Shop & Workflow Management
Oversee repair progress, parts flow, and job scheduling to minimize delays
Ensure all safety and compliance procedures are followed
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment
Support and enforce CARSTAR's standard operating procedures and repair processes
Qualifications
Minimum 3-5 years collision repair management or senior leadership experience (required)
Experience leading a collision repair team of approximately
10-20 staff
including technicians, painters, detailers, and front office staff
Strong understanding of auto body repair operations, estimating processes, and production workflow
Knowledge of insurance company processes and DRP program requirements
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Comfortable working with computers and shop management systems
Highly organized, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities
Strong leadership and coaching skills with a focus on team development
Valid driver's licence (required)
