The General Manager will oversee the daily operations of
Fraser Lock & Safe
and
Durham Regional Locksmiths
, ensuring both locations operate efficiently, profitably, and to the highest professional standards. This role requires a person who has hands-on locksmith experience with strong leadership and organizational skills who can balance field work, staff supervision, and business management duties.
The ideal candidate has at least
7 years of practical locksmith experience
, a proven ability to manage people and operations, and the flexibility to support both company locations as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
Oversee day-to-day operations for both Cambridge and Oshawa branches.
Schedule and coordinate staff assignments, installations, service calls, and emergency responses.
Ensure consistent quality control and adherence to safety and security standards.
Manage inventory, tools, and fleet maintenance.
Monitor workflows to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and to customer satisfaction.
Team Leadership
Supervise, mentor, and support locksmith technicians, apprentices, and administrative staff.
Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, address challenges, and maintain morale.
Participate in recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
Customer Relations
Act as an escalation point for customer concerns or complex projects.
Assist the owner in maintaining positive client relationships and uphold the company's reputation for integrity and reliability.
Assist the owner in business development initiatives and help identify opportunities for growth.
Financial & Administrative Duties
Oversee job costing, quotes, invoicing, and budgeting in collaboration with the owner and shop managers.
Track KPI's for both branches.
Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and industry standards.
Technical Expertise
Provide advanced locksmithing support as needed, including safe work, access control, and complex installs.
Assist with specialty projects requiring high-level technical skill or problem-solving.
Assist the owner in modernization efforts for equipment and software.
Travel & Coordination
Be primarily based in
Cambridge
, with
occasional travel to Oshawa
for training, audits, or management support.
Coordinate operations between both locations to maintain consistent standards and efficiency.
Qualifications:
Minimum 7 years
hands-on locksmith experience (commercial, residential, and/or institutional).
Proven experience in a
supervisory or management role
within the locksmith or security industry.
Strong understanding of key systems, safes, access control, door hardware, and security standards.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency with scheduling, quoting, and invoicing software (e.g., ServiceM8, Service Titan) is an asset.
Valid Ontario driver's license and clean driving record.
Must be bondable.
