St. Andrews by the Lake (SABTL) is a stunning, award-winning 9-hole golf course resort just 15 minutes from Penticton. The resort has a Pro Shop, Bistro & Bar, Guest Rooms, and an outdoor pool and tennis/pickleball court.
We are currently looking for an accomplished leader who can operate at both a tactical and strategic level. We are seeking a General Manager who can see, articulate, and mobilize resources to achieve strategic goals; manage and continuously improve our existing business units; identify and implement new business opportunities; and support our Strata Council (SC) in reorganizing for the future while delivering a high quality resort guest experience.
Purpose of the Position:
The General Manager (GM) is the senior on-site leader responsible for the overall management, operation, and strategic direction of the Golf Course Resort that forms part of a the SABL Strata Corporation. This role ensures seamless coordination between the resort's commercial operations and the strata's governance requirements. The GM oversees all departments, ensures financial sustainability, maintains high service standards, and works with the Strata Council to uphold compliance with strata bylaws, provincial regulations, and industry best practices.
The General Manager (GM) is the senior employee of St. Andrews by the Lake. The GM and the Strata Council work together to ensure and enhance the economic viability of the SABTL businesses and community infrastructure while pursuing a community vision and mission.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic & Operational Leadership
Develop and execute short and long-term operational plans to achieve financial, service, and community objectives.
Oversee all resort operations, including golf, hospitality, maintenance, food & beverage, events, recreation facilities, and property care.
Ensure alignment between commercial operations and the Strata Corporation's bylaws, rules, and decisions.
2. Strata Governance & Relationship Management
Act as primary liaison between the Strata Council and residents.
Attend Strata Council meetings, prepare operational reports, and provide strategic recommendations.
Ensure that resort operations respect strata bylaws and that common property is maintained to strata standards.
Coordinate communication with owners regarding maintenance activities, community impacts, and operational matters.
3. Financial Management
Coordinate and manage annual operating and capital budgets for resort and strata-related operations.
Oversee revenue generation across golf, guest rooms, retail, and F&B to achieve financial targets.
Ensure accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and expenditure control.
Work with the Strata Council on budget planning for common-area maintenance and capital reserve requirements.
4. Staff Leadership & Human Resources
Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise departmental managers and staff.
Foster a positive work culture focused on guest service excellence, safety, and team development.
Ensure compliance with labor regulations, workplace safety standards, and HR policies.
5. Guest Experience & Community Relations
Maintain high levels of guest satisfaction across all resort amenities.
Address guest or homeowner concerns professionally and proactively.
Promote a welcoming and cohesive environment for both resort guests and strata property owners.
6. Facilities, Maintenance & Grounds
Oversee maintenance of the golf course, resort buildings, common areas, landscaping, and amenities.
Coordinate long-term asset management plans, including replacements and upgrades.
Ensure environmental stewardship and compliance with water use, pesticide application, and safety standards.
7. Marketing, Sales & Events
Support marketing initiatives to promote resort stays, golf rounds, tournaments, memberships, and events.
Develop partnerships with tourism organizations, local businesses, and community groups.
Oversee event planning and execution to maximize revenue while protecting strata property interests.
8. Compliance, Risk Management & Safety
Ensure adherence to all provincial regulations, strata laws, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
Maintain emergency response plans and workplace safety programs.
Education and Experience
Proven experience (7-10 years) in hospitality, golf course management, resort operations, or property management.
Experience working with or within strata/HOA/condominium governance structures is strongly preferred.
Strong financial management and budgeting skill.
Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution abilities.
Knowledge of golf operations, turf management principles, and F&B operations is an asset.
Post-secondary education in hospitality management, business administration, or related field preferred.
