What you'll do at Banter (the key responsibilities):
Operational Excellence
Ensure the company's operational rhythm is maintained throughout all seasons; proactively making changes to ensure optimized operations.
Develop standard operating procedures (SOP) to support operational efficiency.
Identify and implement technology solutions to improve operations
Leadership
Be an ambassador of Banter's vision and values, modelling our core behaviours in every interaction.
Build and nurture a strong, aligned team where communication, trust, and a sense of fun thrive -- true to our name, Banter*. Lead with accountability by setting clear targets, tracking progress, and reporting on success metrics.
Foster fair and consistent application of policies and procedures across all departments.
Develop and mentor managers and key staff to ensure they embody our culture and deliver operational excellence.
Champion training and development programs -- from onboarding to ongoing growth -- ensuring every team member has the tools to succeed.
Facilitate effective team meetings and execute the development calendar to keep goals visible, progress consistent, and energy high.
Strategy & Financial Management
Translate the company vision into clear goals and actionable strategies that drive results.
Accountable for business performance through annual budgeting and forecasting
Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget targets, using insights to drive long-term visionand guide strategic decision-making.
Implement cost control measures while maintaining quality standards
Forecasts and coordinates seasonal hiring and staffing plans
Performance Management & KPIs
Establish and track key performance indicators across all operational areas
Analyze sales data, customer feedback, and operational metrics, making recommendations to support the business and align with strategic goals.
Create meaningful action plans to address performance gaps; following through with feedback and coaching to ensure performance gaps are improved.
Imbed a highly accountable culture, leaning into a performance management systems and regular check-ins
Address performance issues promptly and constructively
What you bring with you (the qualifications):
8+ years of progressive leadership experience, including at least 2-3 years in multi-site or multi-department management.
Proven ability to lead and develop teams of 20+ staff, ideally through other managers.
Strong financial acumen, including budget management, scheduling, and inventory oversight.
Working knowledge of BC employment standards, food safety, and health regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster collaboration and accountability across teams.
Proficiency with POS systems, Excel, and other administrative tools.
Located in the Fraser Valley, with flexibility to work across our Abbotsford and Chilliwack locations.
Ideally has experience in hospitality, retail, or food service, with a solid understanding of both kitchen operations and customer service.
Appropriate home office setup to support the hybrid nature of the role.
