at our senior retirement home. This key leadership role is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality care, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership to all departments to ensure high standards of resident care and full regulatory compliance (RHRA, MOH, Public Health, etc.).
Build lasting relationships with hospital discharge planners, organizations providing home care support and the senior community to grow resident census in the home.
Ensure care documentation, including EMAR and medical records, is accurate, up to date, and compliant with legislation.
Review, investigate, and resolve complaints or incidents from residents and families; complete summaries and implement corrective action.
Monitor staff performance across all departments; lead staff meetings, training sessions, and conduct annual evaluations.
Execute full-cycle HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, orientation, scheduling, performance management, and compliance with ESA.
Implement and maintain policies, procedures, and quality control measures across all departments.
Conduct audits and reviews in dietary, housekeeping, falls, behaviours, complaints, continence care, and more.
Support staff in meeting performance indicators and guide improvement plans.
Promote a healthy work culture with open communication, collaboration, and high employee morale.
Collaborate with external partners such as LHIN, physicians, therapists, and home care agencies to meet resident care needs.
Oversee monthly wellness and activity programming in partnership with the Recreational Aide.
Serve as the Infection Control and Health & Safety Officer, leading drills and maintaining safety protocols.
Manage departmental budgets, supplies, and resources efficiently.
Be available for on-call coverage and provide emergency staffing support as needed.
Drive continuous improvement in resident satisfaction, engagement, and quality of care.
Qualifications:
Current registration as a
Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)
in good standing.
Minimum
3 years of management or supervisory experience
in a retirement or long-term care setting (DOC or GM role preferred).
Knowledge of
RHRA
,
LTCHA
,
MOH directives
, and the
Occupational Health and Safety Act
.
Demonstrated leadership in HR, operations, and staff management.
Strong
business development and marketing mindset
; experience building relationships with discharge planners, home care organizations, and senior networks.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
A resident-centered approach, with values rooted in empathy, care, and compassion.
Current
First Aid/CPR certification
.
Proficiency in
Microsoft Office
(SharePoint, Word, Excel).
