Number of Positions: 32 vacanciesAnticipated Start: March 13, 2023Job Type: Seasonal, 240 hours over 6 weeksLength of Employment: 8 months to 24 months, depending on weather and performanceSalary: $15.65/hourTypes of Farming: Vegetable crops, field and greenhouseDuties: Cultivate, seed, plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, weed and harvest crops; detect disease and health problems in crops; set and monitor water lines, air flow, and temperature in cold-frames; sort, pack, weigh, examine for quality and prepare products for market and delivery; load and unload products and materials; operate and maintain farm machinery, equipment and trucks; store products into coolers; complete inventory sheets; clean and maintain farm machinery, equipment and buildings; comply with health and safety procedures; perform other general farm duties as required.Types of Equipment: Tractor, farm truck, tillage equipment, seed drill, planting equipment, fertilizer, crop sprayer, loader, lift truck, manure spreader, vacuum cooler, power jacksWork Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, tight deadlines, repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads (40-50lb), physically demanding, attention to detail, hand-eye co-ordination, ability to distinguish between colours, sound discrimination, combination of standing for extended periods, sitting, walking, bending, crouching and kneeling.Work Site Environment: Outdoors, confined spaces, wet/damp, noisy, odours, dusty, hot, cold/refrigeratedEssential Skills: Reading, numeracy, writing, oral communication, working with others, problem solving, decision making, critical thinking, job task planning and organizing, significant use of memory, finding information, continuous learning**Experience in tractor-driving and vegetable farming is an asset.Room and aboard: rooms available for a fee; no meals provided.Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
