1. General Duties
Filling:
Helps ensure the mushroom compost is filled into the growing beds
Setting up and Operating the Head Filler (Casing Line - W), Pulling Winch, Skid Steer and forklift
Setting up and guiding nets for harvest beds
Washing/cleaning and proper maintenance of Fill/Empty machinery, nets, casing trucks, wagons, dump trucks and premises
Operating handheld drill to secure plastic sheets in growing room
Pulling the cables from the winch across mushrooms beds, up to 8 feet high
Emptying:
Helps ensure the growing beds are emptied post-harvest
Set up any heavy equipment and operating the emptying winch, conveyor, as well as a forklift to remove nets and equipment
Supports and backs-up the Material Application Specialist, Fill/Empty Operations
Disinfecting the growing rooms and any materials
Setting up nets across the growing beds after cleaning and sanitizing
Driving farm vehicles, such as wagons, casing trucks, or dump trucks
General hygiene practices: cleaning aisles, shovelling, squeegee, etc
Other General Duties (Non-Fill/Empty Specific):
Operates and maintains various production machinery including box machines, cassette machines, emptying winch, bunker fillers, front end loader, forklifts, hand jacks and power jacks to support daily operations.
Assembles, inspects, and repairs cardboard boxes and lids according to customer and production requirements.
Performs changeovers on machinery based on product size or type, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal downtime.
Monitors and maintains inventory of packaging materials and supplies such as corrugated cardboard, peat moss, and lime.
Mixes, transfers, and processes compost and casing materials, ensuring proper ratios of water, supplements, and additives.
Ensures correct application of mushroom spawn and supplements during tunnel operations.
Operates tractors, dump trucks, casing trucks, wagons, and other farm vehicles to move raw materials and finished products safely.
Loads and unloads trucks using forklifts or power jacks while verifying accuracy of received and shipped goods.
Maintains coolers, tunnels, and growing rooms by cleaning, sanitizing, and applying disinfectants as required.
Washes and sanitizes equipment, tools, harvest areas, and vehicles to maintain SQF and food safety standards.
Assists with the setup and organization of harvest hallways, ensuring all supplies are ready for the following day's production.
Monitors and records product temperatures, moisture levels, and cooling times to meet quality specifications.
Communicates effectively with growers and supervisors to identify and resolve issues with compost, casing, or disease control.
Conducts regular inspections of trolleys, platforms, and other production equipment to ensure safety compliance.
Receives product throughout the day via RF scanner within SAP and fills the proper documentation based on the quality, and item count
Supports material application and tunnel operations teams during spawning, transferring, and emptying processes.
Removes debris, broken pallets, and waste from work areas, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
Performs light maintenance and basic troubleshooting on machines, reporting any deficiencies to maintenance personnel.
Completes all required production, sanitation, and quality control documentation accurately and on time.
Assists with stacking, storing, and organizing product in vacuum coolers, loading docks, and packing areas.
Follows all company safety policies and standard operating procedures to ensure a safe and efficient work environment

3. Safety

Reports all incidents, injuries and near misses to the supervisor immediately
Cooperates in the Early and Safe Return to Work Program if an injury or medical illness requires accommodation
4. Food Safety
Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) as trained
5. Quality
Adheres to all quality standards per customer specifications
Qualifications:
Must be 16 years of age.
Must be eligible to work in Canada with no restrictions.
Previous experience in agriculture, horticulture, construction or relevant field is required.
NO LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Hours of work:
5 to 6 days / week.
Approximately 30 to 60 hours per week / 8 to 14 hours per day.
Public holidays/weekends as scheduled.
Daily shift start and end times for associates vary based on production.
Earnings:
$18.67 - $21.68
Farm Hand Fill/Empty and Farm Hand Tunnels Crew receive a $0.60 per hour premium for working on the afternoon crew.
