Position Summary



We are seeking a motivated

General Assembler

to join our production team. This role involves various assembly tasks, material handling, and operating machinery to support the production of transformer cores, coils, enclosures, and related components. You'll work in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment where attention to detail and teamwork are key.

Key Responsibilities



Assembly Tasks



Assemble transformer core, coil, and enclosure components using hand and power tools Prepare materials, including cleaning, measuring, cutting, and staging for assembly Install insulation, wraps, brackets, and mounting hardware per drawings and specifications Lace core and coil assemblies with precision, maintaining dimensional accuracy Assist with stacking, packing, and assembly of transformer cores of various sizes Perform quality checks throughout the assembly process, ensuring work meets required standards Prepare, arrange, and assemble transformer leads according to specifications, including cleaning epoxy-coated leads as required Perform dipping and baking processes for transformers according to established procedures, ensuring proper curing and insulation integrity

Material Handling & Machine Operation



Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, pallet trucks, and other material handling equipment to move components and assemblies Support automated or semi-automated core and coil machinery as required Load/unload materials onto workstations and production equipment Maintain a clean and organized work area

Production Support & Teamwork



Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work orders, and specifications Record accurate production data, labour tracking, and inspection results Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to troubleshoot issues and suggest improvements Follow all health, safety, and environmental policies, including proper use of PPE Support cross-functional tasks in other departments as production needs require

Qualifications & Requirements



1+ year of experience

in assembly, machine operation, or general manufacturing (transformer experience preferred) Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and measuring tools (tape measures, calipers) Skilled with hand tools, power tools, and basic assembly techniques Familiarity with operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and material handling equipment (training provided if needed) Mechanical aptitude, problem-solving mindset, and attention to detail Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks (standing, bending, lifting) for extended periods Willingness to obtain safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, Fall Protection, Crane Operation) Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and flexible schedules as required Previous experience operating or assisting with automated assembly machinery considered an asset
