To work with the clients of the YWCA Central Avenue Shelter, providing guidance, support, and life skills to empower and promote independence. To maintain a clean and secure facility and assist the residents when necessary.

Qualifications:
Have excellent people skills and work well in crises;
Must be flexible, reliable, and willing to participate in continuous learning opportunities;
Must be able to lift heavy items/perform heavy cleaning;
Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture with a mindset accepting of reconciliation;
Valid Class 5 Driver's License -
Those without a Class 5 Driver's License need not apply;
Reliable transportation;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Computer skills (including Microsoft Office, Email communication, & Data entry);
Must pass Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check;
Ability to work independently and follow policies and procedures;
Ability to work closely with at risk youth providing trauma informed care;
Excellent Time Management Skills;
Remuneration:
$23.08 per hour.
Hours of Work:
Evenings, Weekends, and overnight shifts to be expected - as best suits the needs of the program.
Duties:
Guide the residents, providing support & advocacy as they transition into adulthood/independence;
Must be a good role model to youth/clients;
Manage challenging behavior, verbal de-escalation;
Maintain building security, perform room/bag checks;
Ensure major housecleaning duties are completed as well as everyday cleaning/chores;
Ensure room checks are completed on a consistent basis, report any need for repairs or replacement of furniture, blinds, etc. to the maintenance team;
Attend staff meetings, training, and workshops as required;
Communicate with the Manager/Supervisors and co-workers as part of a cohesive team;
Provide feedback to the Manager/Supervisors on client issues, major events, and incident reports;
Attend to crises as they arise during no-office hours. Contact the Manager/Supervisor in the event of a major crisis;
Ensure policies are adhered to as per contracts with: MSS< CPS/YO, & CSC;
Prioritize work, attending to the most urgent needs of the clientele first;
Work unsupervised;
Maintain confidentiality;
Must be able to work both evenings & weekends, as well as holidays;
Must be able to work shift work & overnights;
Must report any instances of Child Abuse or neglect including physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional maltreatment, neglect, & domestic violence;
Any other duties as requested by management;
