Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Patient Care, Child Life Program, the Gaming & Technology Support Specialist is responsible for enhancing and improving the use of technology within the Child Life team. Duties include recommending and educating Child Life staff regarding gaming systems and technologies that are beneficial for stress and pain management, alternative focus, individual and group play, and teaching. Working as a team with the Child Life Specialists and Music Therapists, Children\'s Hospital TV and the Library program the incumbent will promote and integrate best evidence and clinical practices related to the use of technology with children and youth within our healthcare setting and develop an evaluation plan to assess the outcomes of various initiatives over time.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience required.
  • Knowledge of gaming systems and new technologies suitable for use in a pediatric healthcare setting required.
  • Experience in healthcare and/or working with children and youth preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • College diploma in Information Technology required.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Apple products required.
  • Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in an effective manner verbally and in writing.
  • Experience teaching others how to use technology.
  • Strong organization and self-management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
