As a Furnace Operator in the Nuclear Industry, you will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and monitoring of high-temperature furnaces used in the manufacturing of nuclear components. Your role will require adherence to strict safety standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring that all processes are carried out efficiently and safely. You will work closely with engineers and other team members to optimize furnace performance while minimizing risks associated with the high-temperature processes used in nuclear component fabrication.

Key Responsibilities:



Operate and monitor high-temperature furnaces used in the nuclear industry for materials processing, including sintering, annealing, and heat treating. Ensure all equipment is functioning within the prescribed parameters and report any deviations to supervisors immediately. Maintain records of furnace operations, including temperature readings, fuel consumption, and operational status, in compliance with regulatory and industry standards. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of furnace equipment to ensure consistent performance and safety. Conduct safety inspections and ensure all safety protocols are being followed in line with nuclear industry regulations and standards. Collaborate with engineers and other technical staff to improve furnace efficiency, productivity, and safety measures. Participate in training sessions related to nuclear industry regulations, equipment safety, and emergency response procedures. Handle and store materials used in the furnace processes safely, including high-temperature alloys and other specialized nuclear-grade materials. Assist with the calibration and adjustment of furnace systems to meet specific operational requirements. Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, including radiation protection protocols. Conduct run-out check in order to verify the quality of forging Clean/Wash the part as needed before loading into furnace as required Verify the furnace chart, approve and enter into ERM systems

Requirements:



Education:

College Diploma or equivalent; Technical certification in industrial furnace operations, metallurgy, or a related field preferred.

Experience:



Minimum 3 years of experience operating high-temperature furnaces, preferably in a nuclear or heavy industrial environment. Familiarity with furnace design, operation, and maintenance procedures. Knowledge of nuclear safety standards, radiation protection, and industrial health and safety regulations is a plus.

Skills:



Ability to monitor and troubleshoot furnace systems using diagnostic tools and equipment. Strong attention to detail and an understanding of complex operational data. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining safety standards and operational integrity. Effective communication skills for reporting issues and collaborating with team members. Ability to interpret Master Heat Tread Card and understand the requirement of the process Technical skill to read and interpret furnace chart to the requirement.

Physical Requirements:



Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in high-temperature environments. Comfortable with standing or walking for extended periods. Capable of wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Preferred Qualifications:



Basics of heat treatment and material science Experience with specialized furnace systems used in the nuclear industry (e.g., induction furnaces, vacuum furnaces, etc.). Familiarization with controller logic and display systems Familiarity with environmental impact assessments and emission control technologies. Understanding of calibration Basic knowledge of Health and Safety Systems Mandatory requirement to pass the required training to perform the job

Working Conditions:



Work in a controlled industrial environment with specific safety protocols related to high temperatures and nuclear materials. Shift work, including nights and weekends, may be required depending on the operational schedule. Exposure to elevated temperatures, noise, and radiation (with appropriate protective measures in place).
