Donald V. Brown Funeral Home is an independent family owned and operated funeral home since 1955 in Stoney Creek, ON. We are seeking a fulltime Funeral Director Class 1 intern or junior license to join our team in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
A successful candidate will be self motivated, be able to work independently and as a team member, passionate, reliable, professional, posses excellent time management and organizational skills. Duties would include directing and assisting with funerals, transfers, embalming, dressing casketing and cosmetics, upkeep of facilities and grounds. The candidate must be able to work a written schedule that includes weekdays, evenings, alternate weekends and on call. A valid class G driver's license with a clean abstract is required.
Duties:
- Meet with families to discuss funeral arrangements and provide guidance and support during the grieving process.
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of funeral services, including the preparation and transportation of the deceased, scheduling of services, and coordination with cemetery staff.
- Assist families in selecting appropriate funeral products, such as caskets, urns, and memorial items.
- Prepare and file necessary legal documents, such as death certificates and burial permits.
- Arrange for embalming or cremation services, if requested by the family.
- Coordinate with clergy or other officiants to plan and conduct funeral or memorial services.
- Provide grief counseling and support to families before, during, and after the funeral service.
- Manage funeral home operations, including staff supervision, facility maintenance, and inventory management.

- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and ensure all details are handled efficiently.
- Attention to detail to accurately complete legal documents and ensure all arrangements are carried out as requested.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Knowledge of funeral industry practices, regulations, and procedures.
- Proficient in event planning and coordination.
