Reporting directly to the CEO, the Fundraising Officer plays a key leadership role in developing, implementing, and managing fundraising strategies with a strong focus on private, corporate, and community-based funding. This position is responsible for cultivating donor relationships, writing compelling funding proposals, and designing campaigns and sponsorship programs to support the agency's projects and community programs.
The Fundraising Officer will identify new funding opportunities, plan and execute donation drives, develop corporate partnerships, and oversee special fundraising events and campaigns. As a member of the PCAS team, this role requires creativity, initiative, and the ability to engage a variety of stakeholders to ensure the sustainability and growth of PCAS programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Private and Corporate Fund Development
Develop and implement a comprehensive private fundraising strategy, including corporate giving, individual donations, sponsorships, and special campaigns.
Identify and cultivate relationships with corporate partners, foundations, and high-net-worth donors to secure new funding opportunities.
Prepare customized sponsorship packages and funding proposals for corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs and private foundations.
Lead the planning and execution of donation drives, seasonal giving campaigns, and fundraising events such as festivals, galas, and community celebrations.
Develop and manage a donor recognition program to ensure meaningful engagement and long-term relationships.
Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to design fundraising materials, campaigns, and social media content that increase visibility and donor engagement.
Research and track emerging trends in corporate philanthropy, private giving, and donor behavior.
Build and maintain a fundraising database to manage donor records, correspondence, and performance analytics.
Proposal Writing & New Program Development
Research and respond to Calls for Proposals (CFPs) from private foundations, corporate giving programs, and community trusts.
Develop compelling and strategic grant applications and funding proposals aligned with PCAS' mission and objectives.
Work closely with leadership and program teams to design new projects and initiatives that attract private-sector investment.
Prepare supporting documentation, data, and impact statements to strengthen funding applications.
Track all proposal submissions and ensure timely reporting to funders.
Event-Based Fundraising and Community Engagement
Plan and manage annual and special fundraising events, including donor appreciation functions, luncheons, and community festivals.
Coordinate sponsorship agreements, event logistics, and post-event evaluations.
Act as PCAS' representative at community events and networking opportunities to build relationships and visibility.
Collaborate with local businesses and community groups to develop co-branded events and sponsorship opportunities.
Administration, Reporting, and Budgeting
Develop and monitor fundraising budgets, and projections.
Maintain accurate donor and campaign data for internal reporting and board updates.
Prepare quarterly and annual reports outlining fundraising outcomes and future goals.
Ensure compliance with PCAS' policies, donor confidentiality, and CRA charitable giving guidelines.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Fundraising, Marketing, Business, Public Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Minimum three (3) years of progressive fundraising experience in the non-profit sector, with demonstrated success in corporate and private giving.
Proven track record in sponsorship acquisition, donor engagement, and proposal/grant writing.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong event planning, marketing, and relationship management abilities.
Analytical and strategic thinker with excellent project management and organizational skills.
Proficiency with fundraising CRM software, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms.
Knowledge of the Greater Toronto Area's corporate and philanthropic landscape is an asset.
Bilingual or multilingual fluency is an asset, particularly in languages reflective of the diverse communities served by PCAS.
