The Fundraising and Funding Officer play a key role in securing and sustaining the financial health of CACD. This individual will support the development and implementation of a comprehensive and diversified funding strategy that includes institutional grants (governmental and foundation), corporate sponsorships, and grassroots community fundraising initiatives. The role contributes directly to CACD's capacity to deliver youth-centred, justice-oriented, and equity-driven programmes across the Region of Peel and beyond.
The Officer will collaborate with programme teams, the Executive Director, and the marketing/outreach team to raise resources, engage supporters, and promote CACD's mission of transforming lives through education, empowerment, and community development.
Key Responsibilities
Grants and Institutional Funding
Conduct in-depth research into institutional funders (government agencies, foundations, philanthropic institutions).
Monitor funding cycles and eligibility criteria; prepare compelling proposals, LOIs, and funding applications.
Liaise with grant officers and fund managers to align proposals with strategic priorities.
Track deadlines, submission status, and reporting requirements.
Corporate and Private Sector Partnerships
Identify potential business sponsors, CSR partners, and foundations aligned with CACD's mission.
Develop sponsorship proposals and pitch decks tailored to prospective partners.
Maintain relationship pipelines, follow up on leads, and support cultivation and stewardship activities.
Support outreach for specific campaigns (e.g. IDPAD Gala, Graduation Sponsorships, Youth Kits, etc.).
Community-Based Fundraising
Assist in the planning and promotion of fundraising events such as walk-a-thons, benefit concerts, golf tournaments, brunches, and community dinners.
Support digital giving campaigns (e.g. Giving Tuesday, End-of-Year Appeals) across CACD's website and social media platforms.
Mobilize grassroots supporters, churches, and affinity groups to contribute to CACD's work.
Track donor activity and develop strategies to retain and grow individual contributions.
Strategic Development
Assist the Executive Director in implementing a diversified funding strategy that integrates:
Corporate sponsorship
Individual giving
Community engagement
Digital fundraising tools
Maintain awareness of trends in philanthropy and fund development, adapting strategies as needed.
Monitoring and Collaboration
Track key metrics and performance indicators for fundraising activities.
Support the Marketing and Outreach Officer in aligning fundraising content with public communications.
Assist with compiling data on volunteers, participants, and programme outcomes for use in proposals.
Attend planning meetings and events and collaborate closely with the Event Planner and programme staff.
Qualifications & Competencies
Post-secondary education in Business/Finance, Non-Profit Management, Project Management, Communications, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience (minimum 2 years) in fundraising, sponsorship, or proposal writing within the non-profit sector.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including expository and persuasive writing.
Strong project management and planning skills; able to meet deadlines under pressure.
Familiarity with Canadian grant-making bodies (Municipal, Provincial, and Federal) and corporate CSR landscapes.
Comfort with digital tools, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of youth empowerment, community development, and social justice frameworks is a strong asset.
Ability to work independently and as part of a small, mission-driven team.
High attention to detail and results-oriented mindset.
Additional Notes
This is a part-time position with flexible hours, and some evening/weekend event attendance required.
The role is hybrid: a combination of remote work and in-person responsibilities depending on CACD's schedule and events calendar.
Payment: $20 to $25 per hour/14 -21 hours per week
