Ovintiv is looking for a self-motivated, team-oriented individual to be responsible for helping develop independent and in-depth fundamentals-based forecasts for energy markets. These forecasts help inform Ovintiv\xe2\x80\x99s commodity risk management programs, influence corporate strategy, and maximize the value of Ovintiv\'s production.

This individual will help find innovative ways to leverage the team\xe2\x80\x99s analysis to add value and help the company achieve its objectives. This position offers a high level of exposure to Ovintiv\'s senior management and the opportunity to have a meaningful long-term impact on Ovintiv\'s bottom line.

This individual will collaborate closely with key areas of the company including upstream operations, marketing, midstream, strategy, planning, land, information technology, chief operations engineering, exploration and business development.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously evaluate, model and analyze production, demand, storage, basis differentials, pipeline flows, and competitor intelligence related to Western Canadian oil, condensate and natural gas liquids, and regional natural gas markets with a focus on markets that impact Ovintiv.
  • Develop and maintain processes to evaluate and integrate all relevant market data and information to ensure Ovintiv is working with leading edge market intelligence.
  • Develop reports and presentations to communicate key market drivers and fundamental shifts in the coverage areas to senior management.
  • Perform ad-hoc research and analysis, as requested.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of an undergraduate degree in economics, business/finance, engineering, or related; a graduate degree would be an asset.
  • 3 or more years of analytical experience; exposure to Western Canadian regional market analysis strongly preferred. Detailed knowledge of Canadian liquids markets and the North American natural gas pipeline grid and key producing basins would be an asset.
  • Well-demonstrated technical acumen: analytical skills, Excel expertise and the ability to work with large data sets are a requirement. Data mining, data science, programming, econometrics, and forecasting skills would be an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and adapt quickly and comfortably to changing priorities.
  • Keen attention to detail with the ability to develop answers to a broad range of questions.
In accordance with applicable law, the following represents Ovintiv\'s reasonable estimate of the hiring compensation range for this role.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $95,000 - $140,000 CAD

Compensation may vary and will be determined by the geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
