About SSCS:
Founded in 1978, Sea to Sky Community Services (SSCS) is one of BC's most respected and
established community service organizations.
SSCS focuses on enhancing the lives of residents at every age and stage of life, providing over
40 high quality social service programs that strengthen individuals and build healthier
communities throughout the Sea to Sky corridor. The organization is core funded by the province
of British Columbia and supported by donations, foundation and government grants,
sponsorships, and other partnerships. Sea to Sky Community Services Society is a British
Columbia non-profit and a registered charitable organization.
Contribution:
SSCS is funded mainly by the provincial and federal governments, as well as donations, grants,
sponsorships and other partnerships. SSCS is entering into a 24-month period of intense
campaign work designed to help fund the Harrow Road project. The successful candidate will
be an integral part of the Development Office and will ensure that ongoing annual giving
support of SSCS continues throughout the capital campaign.
Reporting to the Director of Development and External Relations and working closely with the
SSCS team and consultants, the Fund Development Officer is responsible for:
All annual campaign initiatives including direct mail, events, liaison with departments,
community engagement, donor stewardship and prospect research
Collaboration with the Senior Development Officer and Stewardship & Administration
Coordinator as well as other SSCS staff
Connecting with donors and prospects, including individuals, corporations and
foundations
Developing donor profiles and providing input for their segmentation
The work of this new position is to support SSCS in achieving its vision and mission with
accountability for establishing a strong annual development program in support of ongoing
initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Update and implement the Fund Development Plan.
2. Support the implementation of stewardship plans.
3. Engage in identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewarding of donors.
4. Monitor and report on the progress and status of donations and funding in support of
fundraising plans (weekly, monthly, as requested).
5. Follow up with donors and action items.
6. Respond to inquiries from donors.
7. Prepare solicitation letters and materials. Explore a diverse pool of strategies to build
relationships with Donors and prospects including different channels and coordinating
internally with the different team players.
8. Events Planning: identify donors cultivation events, presentations and public outreach.
9. Documentation: maintain updated documentation and interaction with the donors in
the Keela database.
A key component of this position will include working with the Revenue Development and
External Relations team members to:
10. Explore and recommend marketing strategies and materials targeted to prospective
donors using a variety of marketing tools.
11. Contribute to the creation of regular major and planned giving features in SSCS
publications, websites and social channels.
12. Assist in the implementation of SSCS Donor Stewardship programs.
13. Provide feedback to all communication materials for information and cultivation of
major and gift planning projects.
14. Evaluate and segment the prospect list so that the levels of giving are appropriately
placed.

membership in the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
17. Proficiency in the software programs used by Sea to Sky Community Services, including
Microsoft Office and Keela software.
18. Will be familiar with and adhere to all SSCS policies.
19. With financial support of SSCS, remains current in advances in the development field.
Education and Experience:
1. Minimum 3-5 years of relevant fundraising experience.
2. An undergraduate degree in Business, Non-Profit Management, Marketing and
Communications, Public Relations, or similar.
3. Work or volunteer experience in an organization related to social services and/or health
4. Participation in seminars or course work specific to fundraising.
5. CFRE designation is desirable.

Vacation & Leave:
Employees will accumulate 6% vacation pay on all hours worked. This
equates to a vacation accrual of 15 days or 3 weeks' vacation per year.
