Job Description

L'Arche Winnipeg is seeking an enthusiastic and relationship-focused individual to serve as the Fund Development & Communications Coordinator. This role is about building and nurturing meaningful connections--with individuals, organizations, and the broader community--who value and support the Mission of L'Arche. The Fund Development & Communications Coordinator plans, facilitates, and monitors fundraising and communications activities for both L'Arche Winnipeg and the L'Arche Tova Cafe.


Primary areas of focus include donor relations, grants, corporate support, direct mail campaigns, special events, public relations, marketing, and storytelling that makes known the gifts of individuals with developmental disabilities. The Fund Development & Communications Coordinator works closely with the Administrative Assistant and the Accounting Department, and may provide advice and mentoring in communications to the L'Arche Tova Cafe team. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with occasional evenings and weekends required, particularly during peak fundraising seasons such as the annual Walk with L'Arche fundraising event.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:



Administration:



Collaborate with the Community Leader/Executive Director, Board of Directors, HR and Homes Coordinators, and other personnel as required. Participate in strategic planning, operational planning, and budgeting processes. Prepare, monitor, and maintain the fundraising and communication budget. Provide monthly progress reports to the Community Leader/Executive Director Work with the Community Leader to develop fundraising policies and guidelines reflecting ethical fundraising practices. Attend formation sessions to learn about L'Arche. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Fund Development:



Develop and implement the fund development program and annual fundraising strategy, including direct mailings, grants, corporate support, special events, planned giving, major gifts, and individual giving. Educate and encourage staff, board members, and members to support fundraising efforts as a team. Create and implement a multi-year development plan to increase revenues and awareness aligned with L'Arche Winnipeg's strategic direction. Identify and cultivate corporate, community, and individual donors, with emphasis on major gifts. Grow the annual giving program through mail campaigns, digital campaigns, third-party initiatives, and special events. Coordinate the Christmas Appeal/Newsletter mailout each November. Prepare and submit grant applications and reports. Build and maintain donor recognition, acknowledgement, and stewardship processes. Oversee collection and management of donor information with confidentiality. In conjunction with Accountant, oversee receipting processes, including in-kind donations. Maintaining the Fundraising software. Cultivate and maintain relationships with loyal and potential donors. Develop and manage timelines for fundraising activities to ensure strategic plan execution. Monitor campaign impact and adjust strategies in collaboration with the Community Leader/Executive Director. Implement the development plan following ethical fundraising principles. Organize the Annual Walk with L'Arche, coordinating with the Walk Committee on event planning, marketing, sponsorship solicitation, registration, pledge processing, promotional materials, and webpage maintenance. Other additional responsibilities not listed here.

Marketing & Communications:



Develop and implement the marketing and communications program and annual strategy. Interpret and communicate L'Arche's message for general public understanding. Maintain communication to keep supporters and potential supporters informed and engaged. Educate and encourage staff, board members, and volunteers to support communication goals, including social media and brand standards. Produce the L'Arche Winnipeg Gratitude Newsletter (three times yearly: February, June, November). Oversee website content and management. Maintain an organized library of photos for L'Arche Winnipeg. Create special documents with graphics (posters, brochures) with Administrative Assistant support. Implement and manage a social media content editorial calendar with timely campaigns. Collect and manage social media content. Participate in training provided by the L'Arche Canada Communications Team. Promote recruitment for Assistants, Walk with L'Arche fundraiser, and L'Arche Tova Cafe. Attend all community events or delegate photography/video duties if unavailable.

Qualifications:



Required Skills and Experience:



Proven ability to support L'Arche's mission through communications, fundraising, and public speaking. Extensive experience with diverse fundraising activities: special events, direct mail, grants, planned giving, major gifts, and current fundraising trends. Expertise in identifying and writing government, foundation, and corporate grants. Gifted relationship builder with ability to maintain and grow donor and supporter relationships. Experience in event planning, securing corporate sponsorship, event promotion, and committee management. Knowledge and experience in marketing and communications, including websites, newsletters, social media, and media relations. Skilled in social media and marketing strategies. Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills. Able to collaborate effectively with staff, board members, volunteers, assistants, and core members. Familiarity with accounting, budgeting, and reporting is an asset. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising software (eTapestry); familiarity with Salesforce (CRM) preferred. Dedicated: loyal and integrity-driven in pursuit of goals. Preferred Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree or higher in Communication, Marketing, or related field. Ability to articulate L'Arche's mission and resource needs clearly. Creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Strong leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation affecting charities and Imagine Canada's Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code. Understanding of communications, marketing, and public relations to support effective fundraising. Experience developing donor relationships with foundations, corporations, service organizations, and individuals. Experience with full fund development mix, including annual giving, events, major gifts, grants, planned giving; capital project fundraising is an asset.
