Fund Accountant, Private Equity Toronto

Job Description


As a Fund Accountant, you will be involved in preparing full cycle fund accounting and financial reporting for several Private Equity funds and supporting the needs of various internal and external stakeholders.

  • Prepare quarter end reporting, including management fee calculation, cash reconciliations, income and expense accruals and other ad-hoc accounting duties
  • Prepare and enter the journal entries to maintain the general ledger, prepare trial balances and workpaper product
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, including note disclosure
  • Prepare partners allocation calculations and capital account statements for investors
  • Prepare Fund capital call and distribution notices.
  • Prepare interim and year-end audit, obtain supporting documentation, and resolve audit queries
  • Review private equity fund partnership agreements and other materials
  • Assist in the preparation of working papers to facilitate the Funds\' tax and compliance reporting (e.g. T5013, GST/HST, FATCA, CRS etc.)
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the accounting database and systems, including investor preference updates for communications and banking
  • Prepare monthly Borrowing Base Certificates, quarterly Compliance Certificates and other administrative duties related to the Funds\' credit facility
  • Participate in system implementation and process improvement initiatives
  • Work with team members to improve operational efficiency
  • Complete ad hoc reports and projects as needed

  • An undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Professional Designation candidate (CPA) considered an asset
  • 2-3+ years of experience in a similar role, Private Equity experience preferred
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and reporting
  • Experience in preparing general ledgers and financial statements
  • Strong attention to detail and proven ability to multi-task
  • Organized and capable of working under pressure in meeting deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Word, Outlook; Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency with a high level of aptitude for a wide range of computer applications
