Assist in delivering planned monthly activities, which will include components of physical activity, literacy, math, art, and science, as well as scheduled outings. Specifically, assisting the child in whom you are supporting.
Inform the Manager of Child Care of any concerns immediately.
As a member of the YMCA you will be responsible for maintaining and following all New Brunswick Licensing Standards for Child Care centres. You will be asked to review and understand each standard and comply with the necessary requirements. You will also cooperate with licensing coordinators when they visit your site to complete regular inspections.
As per Licensing Standards, children are to spend a specified amount of time outside. This will require you to work outside in the heat, snow, and other elements at times.
You will be responsible for following a schedule of activities for the children within your care. This position will also require creativity and following the children's interests. Collaboration with fellow staff is highly encouraged.
You will be responsible to follow and abide by YMCA Standards, which includes ensuring a clean and well-maintained centre.

Demonstrates appropriate behaviours in line with our mission, vision and values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; takes a member focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the association. Represents the YMCA and the association in a professional manner.
Understands the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.
Understands the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members, volunteers, donors and staff.

19 years old (minimum age).
Workplace Standard First Aid.
Knowledge of Provincial licensing policies and regulations is an asset.
Age specific certificates is an asset (i.e. Children with Disabilities, infant/ toddler, school age).
Previous experience working with children is an asset.
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification is an asset.
Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication (verbal & written) with members, staff and volunteers.

Flexibility regarding assigned hours of work - early mornings, days, evenings and weekends.
