Inclusion Selkirk is looking for people to join our Residential Program. We are seeking people that are available Full or Part-time, on a 4 week rotation of a fixed schedule. The candidate will need to be available for a combination of days, evenings, weekends and stipends.
In your role as a direct support professional you would be assisting Adults living with intellectual disabilities, with all aspects of daily living. This requires applicant to be willing to learn and grow in an ever changing environment, that can be intrinsically rewarding. Day to day tasks may include assisting people to make and attend medical appointments, go shopping, assisting with personal finances and banking, attend events , assist with personal hygiene as needed, administer medications, assist with making meals and general household cleaning, providing companionship and engage in card games or crafts and much more. Responsibilities
Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Provide meal preparation and ensure nutritional needs are met.
Administer medication as prescribed and monitor client health.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping tasks.
Offer companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive atmosphere.
Assist individuals with disabilities in navigating their daily routines.
Provide specialized care for clients with cognitive impairments.
Document client progress and report any changes in health or behavior to the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications
- Over the age of 18
- Clear criminal record
- Clear adult abuse record
- Clear child abuse record
- Drivers license is not required but is an asset
- Must be able to commit to a fixed schedule
Experience
Previous experience in caregiving or support roles is preferred but not mandatory.
Familiarity with home care practices and assisted living environments is advantageous.
Knowledge of medication administration protocols is a plus.
Experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities is highly valued.
A compassionate demeanor and strong interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
Training may be provided for specific care techniques related to dementia care or other specialized needs.
